How did bodysharing work for Chara and Frisk before Chara was revived.
Not so good at first. Chara was not taking so well to be stuck to another human, as you can imagine. Chara is pretty harsh in their thoughts and Frisk pretty stubborn, so. It was ok but a little bit chaotic during their time in the undergound and after. Even if in the underground Chara had some moments when they tried to be supportive in regard of Frisk's distress, in their own way. To Frisk, Chara was mostly helpful and they truly believe they wouldn't have make it without their presence and voice. Once on the surface (and that took various attempts), Chara kinda mellowed out in the years living alongside Frisk so they started to appreciate them more. Frisk was pretty chill with voice-in-their-head-Chara from the begininng, and after going out of the underground they just couldn't remember the time when they were alone, so having Chara tagging along always felt pretty normal to them.
They stayed like this for more than 10 years before stuff happened and Frisk decided to go back to be able to revive Chara.
