Akane immediately knew she had to make you a cake on your birthday, not only was it a tradition she wanted to uphold but that would give her an excuse to eat the cake with you, something she definitely wanted. She would try to not hog it all to herself but she thought you'd understand with how much she loved eating
Of course she wanted to give you a real gift too but the most important thing to her was the cake so she decided to handle that first
But she didn't account for something very important:...akane had never baked before, despite how much she loves eating she's really not that good at cooking, and baking is even harder than cooking in some aspects so she wasn't sure what would come out of it
But she was optimistic and confident in herself, with all of the cakes she had eaten she should know how to make one....right?
It didn't go well, she ended up spilling flour all over the kitchen and making a mess of everything in general, she did manage to actually make a cake but it came out...not good. It didn't rise because she forgot to put baking powder and it was way too sweet because of all the sugar, she didn't even decorate it
So she was very disappointed in herself when you walked in on her disaster and she had to tell you what happened, but to her surprise you weren't mad at her at all
"I'm really sorry y/n, i tried to make a cake but it's really bad. I'll try to buy you one"
"No it's fine, we can eat that one"
"Hm, really?"
"Yeah you made it so i want to eat it, i don't care if you think it's bad, it's the thought that counts right? You wanted to make something for my birthday and I really appreciate that"
"...wow thanks y/n, you really are a great guy. By the way if you don't like the cake just tell me k? I'll eat all of it....f-for you of course"
"Eheh, yes of course don't worry"
