Something I've been thinking about lately... clearly thinking too much, to no fucking end... anyway, so Mega Man's original Japanese name is Rock Man. It gets into the lore, in that he was upgraded from a robot assistant named Rock and has a sister who is a domestic robot named Roll. So when Dr Wiley reprograms all the Robot Masters, out of necessity Rock is upgraded into the combat robot Rock Man.
Shorter version: Mega Man's original name is Rock Man.
The Japanese invented rock-paper-scissors and have unique cultural ideas centering on paper (it's two dimensional but can be shaped into three dimensions, you can write on it, origami, Shinto spells, lotsa stuff).
So why doesn't Dr Wiley make a Paper Man? Paper Man would wipe the floor with Rock Man!! You're telling me that over the course of ten games it never occurred to Wiley to make a Paper Man while a guy named Rock Man handed him his ass annually!?! In the first one there was even a Cut Man with a big ol' pair of scissors on his head, so we have Scissors Man, and guess how that worked out? He's regarded as the first Robot Master to beat in the progression. Of the very first game. So on day one of his career as a warrior, Rock Man kicks Scissors Man's ass. And this doesn't prompt you to build a Paper Man!?!
so TLDR, Dr Wiley, you fool, the way to beat Rock Man/ Mega Man is to build a Paper Man!!! Simple!!!
