Haters of Blues adaptations always confused me in the sense that, specifically the ones who dislike multiple of them, like I get disliking Archie Blues, thats the most understandable one to dislike actually. Ariga, ok, you have no eyes, but maybe youre not into peak neurodivergent babes. And Ruby spheres? I didnt either as a kid, but thats more of having an issue with the show itself. And again, you have no taste, because I repeat, peak neurodivergent babe. But all three? (I know theres more but those are the most in depth and or long form media that take him on dealing with the classic era)
And when they explain themselves over why those are bad, they do one of two things which is going to make me sound hypocritical but bare with me. One is describing their OC, which is totally cool, thats what literally everyone who really tries to work with him ends up ultimately doing, its just a lack of self awareness that makes it hypocritical. Or they start talking really rigidly about acuracy (when they are actually textually correct, the oc crowd frames it this way too) and they end up discribing a character that is very possible to use IN a story not have a story ABOUT. Because well that is what he is in the games a lot of the time. They need a highly situational little narrative trick, they pull him out. His most iconic momment was literally just jobbing in Megaman and Bass, most other times hes a deus ex machina, a short little plot twist thing, sometimes hes literally just an in game feature like a secret boss. If you want him to function that same way, you can, Id just have to ask why you even bother to engage with narrative focused adaptations then? Like if you just want him to aurafarm and say weird shit, he does that everywhere hes in anyway.
