In this lesson I go over how to play E Mixolydian doublestops all over the fretboard. These doublestops are very useful for soloing and rhythm guitar and you will hear them prevalently in just about every style of music.

Learn how to play double stop sixes in minor on guitar. This awesome sound can be used in rhythm guitar parts, guitar solos, improvisation, and more.

Here is a guitar exercise in the style of the 60 's Motown/Steve Cropper era. This guitar exercise will help you to visualize the 3rds and 6ths intervals inside of your pentatonic scale positions. Each pattern will have a combination of 3rds and 6ths that resolve inside of an E major or E7 triad. We will just be using the DGBE strings for this guitar exercise. This is another great way to blend a major sound into your minor pentatonic playing and play licks between chords.There are also minor 3rds and 6ths to be aware of but we will cover those in a separate lesson. Another added benefit of this exercise is it will provide a hybrid picking workout for your right hand. It will also improve the accuracy of your double stop slides when using different pairs of fingers.

Every so often, folks ask me about my favorite "licks." I usually reply with: "...I dunno, I just like all the notes..." However, there's a bluesy little doublestop thing I often employ and here it is in several different locations!

When practicing #doublestops it’s often helpful to isolate the finger used most. In this passage of 6ths in #carpathianrhapsody by #myroslavskoryk the 2nd finger is used in almost every note, so I practice only the 2nd finger notes as follows: 3 videos: 1) Isolate 2nd finger as it is the most used finger in this passage. For notes not using a 2nd finger, I play the 3rd finger as this is the finger preceding the next use of the 2nd. ~swipe left~ 2) Passage is clean and easy.
