#double shift

Today was a slow day, one that Mike was very greatful for. Saturdays were always slow though,  his day off and Abby’s day to do all her school work made the house silent but not lonely. She was sat at the kitchen table doing times tables while he folded laundry. 

Knock Knock

Abby looked up excitedly, already moving to get up.

“Sit down, I got it,” But Mike was up before her knowing she just wanted a chance to stop doing her math.

She deflated with a huff and plopped back down. He opened the door and was met with a familiar pair of beady eyes and creepy smile.

“Oh hey uh I ddint know you were coming by…” Mike mumbled as he let the other inside. 

Mike had asked Micheal to give him some warnings before he dropped by.

“Oh I won’t stay long, I was just stopping by to give you back your jacket,” Micheal held out Mikes security guard jacket.

Huh so that’s where it went…

“Oh thanks,” Mike took the jacket and internally groaned knowing he’d have to laundry AGAIN.

“I washed it, it had some…I’m not too sure what it was but it was sticky,” Micheal shrugged with that stupid smile like he knew what Mike was thinking.

“Hi Micheal,” Abby waved from her seat.

Micheal looked a little surprised but it was quickly replaced with his usual look,”Hi Abby, what’re you doing?”

He questioned with a tilt of his head as he stepped closer to look at her papers.

“Math,” She pouted at the mere prospect of the subject.

Micheal nodded, he knew all too well the struggles of 5th grade math but he didn’t say anything else. Instead he walked back to the door, he knew that Mike was protective of his little sister and Micheal couldn’t blame him for being tense whenever he was around the young girl. 

“Well then I’ll take my leave,” Micheal waved to Abby and looked at Mike for just a second longer before leaving.

“Is he your boyfriend?” Abby asked as soon as the door was shut.

Mike furrowed his brows at that,”What? No, do your homework Abby,” He shook his head and continued folding laundry.

That night, once Abby was in bed and all the lights were off, Mike was putting his security guard jacket on his bed so it’d be ready in the morning when he noticed it. It’s smell, it smelled like…well like Micheal which made sense, he said he washed it so it made sense. Mike shouldn’t think anything else of it but for some weird reason, it made his chest tight and face flush.

“I needa sleep,” He mumbled letting the jacket fall back onto the bed. 

Hopefully he wouldn’t be so distracted by Michael’s weird eerie scent. 

Nick picks up another double. This time he’s met with Jack wanting to see him before his shift starts and who’s he to deny his favorite man in the entire building 😉

A few fun things about this piece:

Only Nick I allowed to call Jack by age related nicknames, the older man won’t let it slide with anyone else without being sassy in response.

Nick & Jack aren’t dating yet at this point but they’re flirting more openly and certain coworkers are catching on to the build up between the two of them.
