AleSmith Speedway Stout Double Fudge Edition (Picked up at Windmill Farms). A 4 of 4. Really over-the-top with a lot of chocolate and coffee notes, and quite thick and oily. Not too sweet -- there’s plenty of bitterness from the dark roast and cocoa and this is very well-balanced. Lots going on, which the 12% manages to hide behind quite well. Great stuff.

Review: I had read most of the Fudge books when I was in elementary school but had never read this before. Having grown out of the age range for these novels it makes it a little difficult to enjoy sometimes as I can no longer relate to the scenarios. Sure I’ve been through some of the same things but reading about them when you’re going through them and reading about them when you’re old enough to comprehend the full situation are two different things. Still, any Judy Blume book holds its charm and this certainly had plenty.
For my nieces 23 birthday she challenged me to make the best chocolate cake I could come up with.
Challenge accepted!!
How about a double fudge three layer cake with thick chocolate cream cheese icing between and chocolate whipped icing on top with chocolate sprinkles!!
