Do the Du!
The weekend after RASDAK is the Do the Du! Du means duathlon. This particular event is comprised of a 5K run an 18 mile bike ride and another 5K run. I assume running is going to be a necessary piece of RASDAK for me. I guess Facebook is the best source for information, URL: https://www.facebook.com/events/1638357929799550??ti=ia This morning I tested myself to see what it feels like or if I'm even capable of completing an event like this. Here's what I did: 3.3 mile run: 33:14 28.7 mile bike: 1:36:03 3.3 mile run: 35:12 My transitions were a couple minutes each. I honestly expected the second run to be 10 to 12 minutes slower than the first so I'm pleased it was only 2 slower. The sensation going from the bike to the run felt really odd and the reduced speed made it seem like I was barely moving. Two highlights: a pair of officers were attending to a makeshift camp. As I stumbled by on the last leg of the workout I told them I'd been by there 6 times in the last 3 hours and hadn't seen a person associated with the camp. I assume his laugh was a reaction to the length of the workout. Also on the final leg Russel the Muscle rolled up alongside me for a chat. It's always pleasurable to chat him up, but this was especially excellent because having company for the short bit really helped.
