Geno Smith Benched: Jets Turn To Matt Simms For Second Half Against Dolphins

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) — Geno Smith has been benched in favor of Matt Simms to start the second half of the New York Jets’ game against the Miami Dolphins.

Smith had a brutal first half, going 4 for 10 for 29 yards with an interception and an 8.3 quarterback rating as the Jets trailed 6-0. Smith, who has one touchdown and 11 interceptions in his last seven games, overthrew receivers a few times and couldn’t get the offense moving. Simms jogged in to loud cheers from the MetLife Stadium crowd as the Jets opened the third quarter.

The Dolphins outgained the Jets 265 yards to 39 with 16 first downs compared to New York’s two. Miami also held the ball for 24 minutes, 12 seconds, with New York having it for just 5:48.

Richie Incognito, Miami Dolphins Reach Agreement On Suspension, Salary: REPORT

In the latest twist in the saga of Miami Dolphins offensive guard Richie Incognito, he has agreed to extend his suspension while the investigation into a bullying scandal continues, according to NFL Network.

Incognito isn‘t allowed to be suspended any longer than this Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

The agreement, which was signed off on by the league and players’ union, complies with the NFL collective bargaining agreement.

Incognito was suspended indefinitely for conduct detrimental to the team after allegedly bullying teammate Jonathan Martin, including leaving a racially-charged voice mail on Martin’s phone.

Incognito has lost $ 235,294 in salary each week.

He agreed to postpone his grievance hearing until an independent investigation is over looking into the Dolphins’ workplace.
