It's so interesting to think about how Donna marrying young to an older man could have affected a lot of the Titans views on romance, especially cause Wally ends up in a pretty similar situation a few years down the line. Donna marries a divorced man who's 10 years older than her and Wally starts dating a woman who's 15 years older than him and still married.
And they were both 19/20 years old.
This coincidence is very likely due to the time period and how the writers themselves didn't see that much of an issue with age gaps. This can also be viewed in multiple comics including the Aquaman ones where Arthur dates Dolphin who I assume is somewhere in her 20s. And later on marries Garth. I sometimes thought she was somewhere between them in age. At some point though, Garth disappears and when he returns everyone keeps bringing up how much he's grown and that's when he starts dating Dolphin. I personally can't tell just how much of that growth is literal and how much of it is metaphorical and if Dolphin is closer to Arthur's age or his at the beginning. If she's the first then Garth would also fit the pattern I mentioned before, but thats a big stretch though.
Either way, in-universe Donna's actions signify a lot. Because marrying at her age is meant to showcase her growth and maturity which was something a lot of the Titans were striving for, but at the same time normalizes an age gap. She mentions constantly how she felt the need to grow up fast and this pretty much exemplifies that.
Ps, we should talk more about wally and donna that duo makes me sick
Opinions on Garths wife Dolphin?
I really don't like her in post crisis/pre N52 😓 she was veryy eh
Imagine making out with someone's son(tbf Garth kissed her first) RIGTH AFTER sleeping with his dad..like crazyyy work. Also continuing to have his child is insanezzz. She was okayish in the titans but knowing her background weirded me out ngl
Really glad they retconned her in the current series! Her character feels more of her own instead of a conflicting love interest. Her being mute representation is very cool!! Also she's generally a lot better now hehe, one of the few things I like about recent Aquaman comics. :3
Look at how sick she looks now!
Ooo you wanna read aquaman so badd 🌀🌀
Another doodle dump!! The one from my sketchbook is fab five as kids, like 10 maybe? Probably less. I don’t usually post traditional art here but they were so cute I had to
This week has been harsh… pray for me :(
if I had a nickel for every time a DC boy was the son of a hero, had black hair, blue eyes, an inconsistent white streak, and a history of dying young before coming back revealed to be taken in by a villain, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
