I have my gold dofe expedition tomorrow and I’m not happy about it so here’s what I think Franz would be like on dofe
Just some context: DofE stands for Duke of Edinburgh, it’s an award you can get in the uk. You have to do volunteering, skills, physical activity and a big expedition around some random countryside with massive backpacks where you do camping and wander around (with a map ofc but you usually get lost at least once). There are 3 levels- bronze, silver, and gold. I’m at gold level so I’ll be camping for 4 days and 3 nights :|
Anyways back to the actual post.
Alex- he would be complaining the whole time (fair enough tbh). His bag would be “too heavy”. He would be saying “are we nearly there yet” every 5 minutes. He’s scared of sheep.
Nick- enjoying the nature and the experience. Keeps trying to befriend sheep. Generally chill.
Bob- brought a camera with him, so he’s in charge of taking pictures for the “aim of their expedition” (this is a thing you have to do. You need an aim. Doesn’t have to be photography but it can be). I think he’d lowkey be wishing he was anywhere else but he wouldn’t be outwardly complaining.
Paul- keeps injuring himself on barbed wire and stuff but not saying anything. Map man™️
Julian- Stops to make conversation with every random person they see whilst walking and at the campsite.
Dino- Brought an iPod so he’s officially the tunes guy.
Audrey- really good at putting tents up so she ends up helping everyone else. Has good ghost stories. She’s the most competent member of the group.
hello eggs . i hope you are doing well . how are your relatives? school? what's new?
i'll probably forever apologize for never being in touch . i see that i am not very online often, and seeing as there is someone who cares, maybe i should make up for it .
so, humbly, I'm sorry .
with love,
@skeletonc4rcass . (won't let me tag again . . . )
OMG CASS??!! I WAS THINKING ABOUT YOU RECENTLY!
Literally do NOT worry about it - It's completely fine. Don't worry, please! I love seeing you around 💕
Oh I have STORIES Cass, STORIES GALORE!! I'm on the bus as I'm typing this, going home from Duke of Edinburgh.
We walked through so much - fields, a graveyard, even more long fields, towns, forests, countrysides, a sheep field, we found a sheep and named it Pedro, WE'VE SEEN SO MUCH!! I slept horribly honestly 😭 (we camped for one night) but I did wake up at 5AM in time to catch the sunrise!
We had to carry bags like half our weight, in the night we played Marco Polo as the sun set, I truly felt like I was alive, and on the next day, we walked through a really big field and I collapsed and put my bag down and was like I CANT DO THIS!! thankfully my friend was there to help, and shockingly took my bag along with his own till we got to the end of the field - determined to make it to the end.
It felt like heaven, cass, it really did
Not because it was easy or because it was peaceful, because at points it was, but for a lot it wasn't. It felt like heaven because of how it motivated me. how I learned things that I had never known about myself and my friends. how I struggled and fell, said I'd give up, yet made it to the end. I wanted it so bad, cass, I really really did. i wanted to call up our guides and say 'take me home!' but I didn't. because home is where my friends are, anyway. I got to the end and I've never been so proud. I've never felt so heavenly. And that's what made it feel like heaven - because to me, you have to feel the pain of hell before you can feel the freedom of heaven.
and boy, was it hell. this expedition truly took my life away and brought me back something new - something perhaps better.
but we did it, im getting takeaway tonight. for the first time ever I feel like I'm worth more than I've ever felt like I've been. I feel like I've been on an adventure, which I have. and my back pain is testimony to that. but right now I truly feel like I can do anything in life. i feel strong in my mind despite the weakness in my muscles.
but enough about me, cassy. I truly appreciate your asking, but what about you? how are you, my friend?
silver dofe practice in two weeks does anyone have any crazy tips for survival 🙏❤️
rip Jason grace you would have loved the duke of edinburgh

channeling bae's powers because it's dofe tmrw - I'll be shitposting and stuff because I'll be trekking gulp
I'm fucking losing it at the sport options that you can select for your duke of Edinburgh physical because here are some valid sports under the qualification but aren't considered popular enough to be selectable and you instead have to pick other
- Gaelic football
- Roller derby
- Wheelchair Basketball
- Roller skating (blading is valid though)
And these are considered popular enough
-Octopush
-Carriage driving
- Wallyball
- Underwater rugby
Like I think if you ask someone on the street have you heard of wheelchair basketball or roller derby they would probably say yes. But if you asked someone if they knew what octopush was they probably wouldn't (I looked it up it's like underwater hockey???)
I FUCKING DID IT. DOFE OVER. IF I CAN SURVIVE THIS ITS OVER FOR YOU BITCHES. IM SO STRONG AND SO AWESOME AND I HAVE NOT AT ALL DEVELOPED A PHOBIA OF MIDGES/BOGS/BEING RETOUTED ALONG ANOTHER MOUNTAIN
