A cloud of particulate dust falls over the heavily fortified spire of the Silent Sisterhood on Gassima. It is soon followed by a more destructive storm as suits of armour bearing the sigil of the Blades of Magnus fall from the sky like meteors, smashing through vaulted ceilings and cratering the courtyards, As the Silent Sisters reel from the bombardment, sheets of lightning crack through the atmosphere and the dust cloud coalesces around the lifeless suits of armour. The dust - which is in fact the essence of Thousand Sons warriors - pours into the armour, and one by one the rubricae stand up and raise their weapons. The spire is obliterated in the battle, and every Silent Sister slaughtered, though even faced with death not one allows herself to scream.

Blades of Magnus
The Blades of Magnus were the first of Prospero’s sorcerers to devote themselves wholly to their primarch’s salvation, working in secret to break the bonds between the Crimson King and the eldritch powers he had embraced. The Blades adopted the colours of Magnus’ royal court, the Rehati, but wore them in reverse to demonstrate their intent to save Magnus despite himself. For long years they toiled in secret, slaying those daemons with which Magnus had made his devil’s bargains. When the daemon-primarch learned of their works, he did not reward them, but annihilated their minds with an overwhelming psychic blast. Now they are some of his most loyal thralls, each but a vessel for Magnus’ will.
The One Who Was Nytep is inhabited by a portion of Magnus’ mind that seeks enlightenment from death.
The One Who Was Daor Haak is a vessel for the part of Magnus that seeks wisdom from the heavens.
The flames that adorn The One Who Was Laorath echo the pyromaniacal part of Magnus that lies within.
The One Who Was Tarutap is part of a composite mind, his squad animated by the fires of bitterness.
The One Who Was Throsis is said never to miss, for he bears the all-seeing eye of Magnus.
The rubricae known as the Ones Who Stood Resolute were formerly the loyal guards of Magnus’ tower on Prospero. Their stoicism in life has been replaced by the predictability of the automaton - those who approach Magnus with the intent to harm him will find squad after squad of these killers converging fire upon them.

Similar in design to the more common voidsheen and voidscale cloaks, this unique artefact is composed of a metallic mesh that absorbs light, energy, and kinetic force. Shrouded in its folds, Jenetia Krole stalks the battlefield obscured from the sight of her foes and protected from their wrath, seeking the perfect moment to strike down those marked by the Emperor for death.

The Raptor Guard were once a proud order of the Silent Sisterhood. Though the formation no longer exists as it once did ten thousand years ago, some wargear of its members lives on still. The Raptor Blade is one such relic, an execution blade as razor sharp as it was on the day of its forging.
Although a formidable military force in its own right, the Silent Sisterhood’s clandestine, undocumented actions outweigh their overt activity manyfold. It is purported that for every operation that has been described by the words of iterators or etched into the pict-plates of famed imagists, a hundred more have been conducted behind the veil of secrecy or scoured from record and memory alike. Expurgator Cadres are doubtlessly instrumental in ensuring knowledge of the activities of the Silent Sisterhood is controlled, purging and burning that which they wish to remain hidden. Upon the field of battle, these Sisters of Silence use their heavy weaponry to drive the foe from cover and destroy those that have defied the will of the Emperor.

The Assassination of the Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica
0067215.M26
This assassination is noteworthy because its target, Lord Phaedrus, did not die, nor was it the intention that he should die. Goge Vandire, Master of the Administratum and Ecclesiarch, was having considerable trouble bringing the Adeptus Astra Telepathica under his control. Lord Phaedrus was a potent psyker and as such was not swayed by Vandire’s charisma. No matter how rousing his speeches were, Phaedrus could always see through the plots and deceits revealing Vandire’s true intentions.
Vandire knew that Phaedrus was using his psychic powers to stay one step ahead of him. Simply having the Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica killed would never do, he would simply be replaced by an equally powerful psyker. Vandire lured Phaedrus into a trap, using a Culexus Assassin to nullify his psychic capabilities. The helpless Phaedrus was strapped to a specially prepared life-support machine, whereupon the Culexus Assassin finished the job, permanently severing his ability to tap into the warp and making him incapable of using psychic powers.
Normally such an operation would kill, but with a life-support system and a bribed Magos Biologis, Vandire was able to keep Phaedrus alive. The Master of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica was utterly distraught; robbing him of his psychic powers was like blinding a man and leaving him to wander in the darkness. On several occasions Phaedrus tried to take his own life, but Vandire was always there to remove the blade from his hand or loosen the noose around his neck. In the end, Vandire achieved his aim and gained control over the Adeptus Astra Telepathica. He promised Phaedrus he would not disclose the loss of his psychic capabilities if he agreed to do his bidding.

The Argent Lynx Cadre of the 83rd Dominion is a unit of which no official record can be accessed either before or after its involvement in the Battle of Tizca, as it is believed to be part of the stationed garrison of one of the Black Ships which shadowed the main Censure Force. It is far from alone in this as regards the involvement of the Sisterhood in the battle is concerned, but has been chosen because the deeds of its Mistress, Euphemia King, are attested to with some clarity thanks to the vox and pict-evidence of Field Assessor Jaqueus Quilp of the Administratum Logistica Corpus, attached as an observer to the 10th Sarcosan Voltigers of the Imperialis Auxilia.
During the second wave landings of the Censure Force, after the battle had been fully joined and th.e increasing destruction prompted Constantin Valdor to land his forces, the Argent Lynx Vigilator Cadre, as well as two Prosecutor Cadres, were assigned to the beleaguered Sarcosan Voltigers, who had come under heavy counter-attack while attempting to hold a second line position behind the Space Wolves advance as it tore through the 'Old City' of Tizca. Precisely targeted sniper and psychic assaults had pinned down the human auxilia, shredded its command staff and slain the Imperial overseers assigned to them, leaving the entire regiment in disorder and near rout. The few Silent Sisterhood Cadres on their arrival took charge, and with Quilp as intermediary succeeded in rapidly restoring order through determined leadership and bloody-handed enforcement of discipline. For the next several hours the Voltigers held through counter-attack, psychic maelstrom and buckling reality, and despite nearly 60% casualties maintained their position, thanks principally to the presence of the cadres and the tactical leadership of Euphemia King in particular, though only she and five other Silent Sisters out of the detachment of thirty, all injured, would survive the battle.
We have received some questions recently from some of the more inquisitive* members of your company about the new allied auxiliaries recently assigned to the regiment.
We are blessed to be joined in this campaign by Oblivion Knight Lunix Merindrath and her squad of Sisters of Silence.
For those of you unfamiliar with these warriors, all you need know is that these women are blessed in the eyes of the Emperor, and are skilled hunters of the witch, the warlock and the sorcerer.
As their name suggests, they are indeed silent, though not through any inability to speak. Rather they have sworn an oath of silence to the Emperor himself.**
We ask that you do not attempt to test this vow.
In particular, to help facilitate a continued friendly alliance, please desist from trying to make them laugh, regardless of how humorous or relevant you believe your joke to to be.***
Generally speaking, you should have no reason to interact with these warriors. Such interactions and discussions of tactical import will be left to war zone command, and any unauthorised attempt at communication will be reported to your Regimental Commissar.
Several Guardsmen have reported headaches or feelings of nausea in the presence of these warriors. We can assure you that such a reaction is nothing but a natural response to the undiluted faith these warriors have in the Emperor, and in no way related to any otherworldly abilities these warriors may or may not possess.
With these warriors at our side, victory is assured.****
Thought for the Day: ‘Alone, we stand as bastions of strength. But when we fight side by side, we are a fortress of faith that no foe can overcome.’
- The Regimental Standard: A Silent Sisterhood
* We remind you that inquisitiveness is the first step on the road to heresy*****
** An oath that several of you should consider. We’re looking at you, Guardsman Perkins.
*** Again, this means you, Guardsman Perkins.
**** which of course, it was already, but it never hurts to be sure.
Archetypal of the Sisters of Silence present in the Censure Force despatched to Prospero from Terra, Almatra Cravare was a veteran of the Great Tithe, and such extant records that survive from the Somnus Citadel on Luna indicate that she had more than two decades of service in the League of Black Ships. As a Vigilator - one of the execution blade-equipped close combat elite of the Silent Sisterhood - it was her task and the task of cadres like hers to close rapidly in combat with enemy psykers and dispose of them with the bloody certainty of a power blade strike, preferably one inflicting a decapitating blow. While they relied not only upon their power as Psychic Nulls, but also their skill and speed as well as the protection of their advanced armour to defend them from harm in such close assaults, to serve as a Vigilator was still to invite peril and death, but this was an honour that the Silent Sisterhood's ranks aspired to above all. The risk of such service was never more evident than upon the deadly, reality-warped battlefields of Prospero.
Amid the fury of the darkest hours of the Battle of Tizca, the selfless sacrifice of the Vigilator cadres was perhaps the deciding factor in many sectors of the battle, allowing their comrades both of the Custodian Guard and the Space Wolves to close with the foe without being swept aside on a tide of warp-conjured horror. Almatra Cravare stands as a testament to this, fighting on despite bolter and shrapnel wounds which should have felled an unaugmented human being several times over, she gave up her life only after plunging her blade through the torso of Magister Gul Hadrastep of the Thousand Sons’ Order of Ruin, disrupting the skein of psychic energy with which he drove on the psi-automata at his command, allowing them to be overcome.
