I just spent an hour+ watching the new PBS Documentaries "When Southern Tourism Whitewashes History" on Youtube, and it is really good and important, and also major content warnings for racism, holy fuck

(the same five songs, the radio station it plays the same five songs!!!) most of the fics I've read when I filter by alternate universe are fics in which by some wormhole or strange occurrence, Simon is now on Erid with Grace and they fall in love. listen, I love an Eridborhood AU as much as the next guy, but it's relatively ALL I see. where are the weird fics??? do something crazy, do something different. and yes I know that as an author I am hypocritical in saying that if you have an idea go out and write it yourself, while I don't really do that. if you have a fucked up idea, WRITE IT!!! if you have a regular old modern au, WRITE IT!!! if you want to make those boys kiss, WRITE IT!!! put your words out there and try, it doesn't have to be good, but if you wish there was something for that idea, nobody else is going to make it unless you do. use some of that free will that we as humans have. make that AU and if no one else reads it, you can read it yourself and you know what I WILL READ IT. and that's my promise to you

They really wanted their fuckass "El disappears in an ambiguous maybe-death and the party fondly remembers her as that girl from the crazy adventure in their youth" ending from s1 and apparently never thought about how that ending fits the story they've been telling for ten years AFTER that first season

because honestly, it's a decent enough ending for s1. She's known these guys for a week; just being free from the lab (even if she never sees this particular group of people again) is a fine enough ending because now she's free to live her own life

in s5, however, El has spent YEARS with everyone. She has a dad, a mom, brothers. Tearing her away from her only support system so she can wander the world on her own isn't freedom, it's isolation, and it's an extremely mean-spirted ending to give to a girl who has been deprived of human connection her entire life

The way I said the EXACT same thing as soon as that verse started.

It’s the same repetitive juvenile chorus as Mona Lisa. His rapping is not good. Lowkey sounded like he was chasing the beat and Glorilla’s verse was so disjointed from his.

This Scooter blueprint was already played but especially for Hobi because It all feels even more just so try hard and forced. The over exaggerated choreo to come off as sexy was a mess.

You don't understand the problem with Star Wars if you think this.

Star Wars has a big "small world" problem in which one story has been told through the same viewpoint.

Now it's not really about the opinion about the show. it's the fact that so many people have a problem with Star Wars when the focus point isn't on the jedi, the same people who say that Rogue one was boring only like Star wars for the lightsaber fights and not so much of the all around story or message.

This might be a hot take, but the movies should focus on the force and jedis while the shows should focus on other groups of characters, i.e., clones, Mandalorians, imperials, Slaves, POWs, rebels, wookies. Fucking anything other than the small group of jedi.
