I have to make a new freak for a dnd one-shot
*evilly rubs hands together*
Gremlins
Gremlins are mischievous fae creatures who saw a resurgence and popularity within British Royal Air-force and a ton of WWII propaganda used them in posters to promote workplace safety.
Used as a scapegoat to promote workplace moral among pilots it was a popular game to blame any number of nearly harmless incidents to the comical and fantastical creatures instead of any of your coworkers which I think is a delightful bit of history.
Regardless of history these Gremlins have a bit more bite to them and can cause havoc where ever they set up. Artificers and mine foremen have a particular hatred of the creatures as they slow progress down considerably and can cause injuries. However, while their invisibility can make it difficult to determine whether or not a gremlin has truly moved into a workplace at first the "telltale" signs of a gremlin infestation are hard to miss. Rampant pretty thefts, greasy four fingered hand-prints, and a near constant giggling from hidden corners are all signs that a pack of gremlins have found a new set of victims.
This small creature looks vaguely like a smaller goblin at first glance, with its wide head and large ears, but its near coal colored skin, grease covered hands, and mischief filled eyes make it clear that it is no mere goblin. Typically, they wear the stolen clothes of small children if anything at all and are quite fond of stealing the googles or hats of their favorite victims, engineers.
While Gremlins are nuisances at best, they aren't truly dangerous until they find themselves a Gremlin Boss.
While Gremlins are naturally destructive and havoc causing creatures it takes a particularly cruel and cunning Gremlin to ascend to what is known as a Gremlin Boss as it must fight its natural instincts and urges to do something that is usually anathema to most Gremlins. It must plan months in advance. Something most gremlins find impossible to do. Gremlin bosses are not satisfied with petty pranks or the occasional workplace “accident” but instead find great joy in orchestrating the complete and utter destruction of a workspace. A hazardous fire that consumes the factory, a support beam collapsing causing a cave in during an executive visitation or safety inspection, or even causing an entire shipment of vital supplies to go missing due to faulty straps can all be the work of one single Gremlin Boss and its loyal cronies.
All Gremlins follow a Gremlin Boss’s orders to the letter without complaint because every Gremlin knows that a Boss’s plan will lead to destruction that they could not even conceive of by themselves or a "prank" that will have them rolling with laughter for days as the sheer scope of the fallout unfolds and the laughter grows with each and every new misfortune their seemingly previously unrelated tasks cause. All the while the Gremlin boss basks silently in the aftermath, already plotting the next disaster.
The transformation of Gremlin to Gremlin Boss begins when a particularly strong-willed Gremlin was slighted, caught, or humiliated by a mortal. The Gremlin’s attempts to get even spiraling into more complex pranks and plots until it finds itself planning days, weeks, months into the future. Each failure to get even causing its face to twist from a manic constant grin to ever present sneer, until eventually it snaps and flies into a destructive rampage. Smashing and attacking everything in its vicinity until it collapses with a gasp. Over the course of a day and an hour it lies still and mutters under its breath a new and complex plan, all the while growing in size, until it awakens without a sound. The newly minted Gremlin Boss rises and immediately gets to work on sabotaging the entire life of the mortal who initially slighted it.
This gangly creature grins in what would be a polite smile if it wasn’t for the maw of mismatched sharp teeth and ill intent clear in its eyes.
I wanted to make a foil to pixies for adventures that focus on fae creatures. A low level low-stake monster that is focused more on being nuisances than true threats...That being said they do have shatter and a pretty potent bite attack. Anyway let me know what you all think and if there should be edits!
Some of the Posters I found, They have a whole bunch of them in the U.S. National Archive and Records...at least for now. Who knows what the orange man will purge for stupid reasons.
Loki: Nice to meet you miss…
Fae: Elndria, may I have yours?
Loki: Earth does have a sort of ceremony
Elndria: A ceremony for your name? Wow, it must hold meaning.
Loki: You could say that, yes.
Elndria: What do I do?
Loki: just sign here and here
*she does it*
Elndria: Hah, I now own you
Loki, laughing: I wouldn’t say you “own me” per say, but I guess
Elndria: What?
Loki: On earth… we call that a marriage
Elndria: Hold on-
Loki: Who’s buying the rings?
I did another random OC!
A fairy ranger with the hermit background. She's also based on the Oakworm Moth.
Her lore is that she lives in a small bird house in the middle of a forest and she takes care of nature. If anyone tries to harm the animals or trees, she sends spells after them. She doesn't resolve to violence often, just scaring intruders off...and sometimes she has to use a small sword, but you know!
Thanks to someone named Ghost on the ibis paint platform for the locks brush.

Fiddling with ideas for the Queen of Air and Darkness. I've been playing around with some homebrew ideas for the Feywild, and we're kicking things off with the Unseelie Court, it seems
