Finger/Hand/Arm Exercises. This is an exercise with an Iron Palm Bag. When I learned we usually called it a Tiger Bag. I guess because we used it tiger like, building finger strength, gripping, tearing, gouging, etc, along with the typical exercises. This bag weighs 8 pounds. This can be practiced by any style, because we all use finger strength. We are not doing it in these photos but you can sit into a horse as you practice. The bag is tossed, when you catch it, dig/gouge your fingers into the bag, and twist as you jerk the bag. Keep the hands up, do not let the hands drop to the waist. Keep them up in a “guard hand” position. See in the one picture how I have my hands up in the “guard hand” position. This works the strength of the arms and hands and teaches you not to drop your arms (“dead arm”). The arms are up, ready and in play. There are many ways to toss and catch it that can benefit the hands, but this description is a good start. Striking of the bag is great, but also develop ripping, along with fingertip push ups, and King's Dit Da Jow. This can be great for any style. My instructor and I would stand 15 or more feet apart tossing this bag back and forth. The distance increased the velocity and difficulty. Just a little peak into what some of what we do in class, and sharing some tools to try out :-). Pictured: Steve, Dirk, Michael, Jim, and Art. Guys, keep your arms up, some of those hands are dangling - dead arms :-) #ditdajow #ironpalm (at Lakewood, California)
