Lyme Park
Lyme Park estate is located south of Disley in Cheshire, England. The 1,400 acre estate includes the largest house in Cheshire. The 16th century mansion is set amongst formal gardens and a deer park located in the Peak District National Park. The estate has an orangery, a reflection lake, and an Italianate garden. The Legh family owned the estate from 1388 to 1946, when it was given to the National Trust. The house has been altered and enlarged over the years. The home boasts an Elizabethan drawing room, a stag parlor, a knight’s bedroom, a long gallery, a library decorated in the Victorian era, and more. At one time, the stag parlor was only accessible from outside the house and is said to be a place where Jacobite sympathizers met. The reliefs on the wall depict the life cycle of a stag. The mansion has a collection of Mortlake tapestries, a fine clock collection, ceramics, furniture, Chinese wallpaper, sculpture, and the Lyme Missal. The Sarum Missal at Lyme is the only surviving book of its kind, although they were commonplace in early modern England. The copy at Lyme was printed in 1487 by William Caxton in Paris and belonged to the Legh family for over five centuries. The book represents the country’s changing religious views and was purchased by the National Trust in 2008. Currently, the mansion is closed to visitors, but when it’s open, they have a changing room where visitors can change into Regency attire. There’s also a gift shop and a teashop. Lyme Park served as Pemberley, Mr. Darcy’s estate, in the 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Stags by INNES Via Flickr: OK Basse don't tell everyone we've seen this bit of sky before. Yes, I had to add something in as the deer were in shadow , and although brilliantly silhouetted there was just no contrast. But, Basse, referring to the added in clouds, you look at the sky above you and tell me you've never seen that same bit of sky before?
