Santos-Dumont No. 6 Over Parc Saint Cloud, 1901 // The Number 6 was a legendary dirigible airship built by the Brazilian Aviator, Alberto Santos-Dumont, in 1901. It won the Deutsch de la Meurthe Prize by completing a round trip from the Aéro-Club at Parc Saint Cloud to the Eiffel Tower and back within 30 minutes. Santos-Dumont became the toast of Paris when he donated all of the 100,000 Franc prize to his crew and to the poor. //
Dirigibles above! Furl courses, run out the guns, and launch tactical missiles! (Gene Day cover for Lords of the Middle Sea, Chaosium, 1978) Lynn Willis designed this board wargame set in a postapocalyptic North America where the continent's interior is inundated by inland seas.
