so. they're in the car. tin has said that he meant what he wrote in the letter, setting a boundary. phob has just laid out his test - "I can forget [the letter/our past]. But you need to prove to me that you forgot all about it as well."

"Prove how?"

baby boy is T E R R I F I E D. (ongsa, those eyes, i swear to god. they gave his eyeballs secondary dialogue and he's locked. the fuck. in.) tin knows what's coming, and he's realizing that in all these years he spent burying his feelings, he never dug deep enough.

phob kisses him, and for half a second, tin has the willpower to resist, to reestablish the boundary he's trying so desperately to cling to. his hand even comes up to push phob away.

but once he does push phob away... there's that tear, running down the side of phob's nose. the reminder of all the pain they both feel, the choices phob was forced to make because of tin, the incredible guilt tin feels as the genesis of phob's suffering.

and it breaks his resolve immediately.

the only way he can repent for making phob cry is to tell the truth - and kiss him again. yes, i miss you. yes, i never forgot you. yes, i can't love anyone like i love you.

until he finds the scar on phob's arm... one more devastating reminder that tin letting himself love phob has only hurt him. ("You were with him when he had a hard time in life. I was the one who gave him the hard time.") tin can't be the reason phob suffers anymore.
