I’m not a big Digimon fan, but I do remember the anime cartoon from the late 90′s. I was sold on this after watching a video by JobbyTheHong, I picked this up at a Barnes&Noble close to my job sometime around June 2020
Let’s cut right to the chance here, Angewoman is pretty much a well endowed anime Valkyrie/Judeu-Christian hottie. I mean, what else can I say about her appearance?
I like toys, and I like scantily clad women, and I make no apologies for that.
Though Angewoman has a shapely female form she also has a massive backpack, er..angel wings...massive angel wings, something almost reminiscent of Sephiroth of Final Fantasy VII
The backpack is an absolute mess.
From the front you can kind of see four angel wings, and a lot of nonsence hanging down from behind, and turning the figure around you see...
...well more of a mess with an upside down kitty cat for a hood.
Yea, fortunately this thing is removable.
Once Angewoman’s wings have been clipped you see something less busy and, and more eye appealing.
Angewoman is basically a blonde beauty wearing a white leotard, with..I dunno, bondage straps? Pink ribbons and, and of course a bad ass helmet and boob armor (which are both di cast metal).
On Angewoman’s arms there is a soft, rubbery plastic which is supposed to be ribbon with cryptic markings them which ends at the wrists which transitions to to more kibble for the alt mode.
I really like the head sculpt; it’s a eyeless knight helmet with Valkyrie feathers, I think it looks really cool!
Also the ankle bracelet on her left foot is also di cast metal; they do give the figure a little bit of extra weight to it.
Unfortunately posing the figure isn’t very easy, for the life of me I couldn’t get the figure into many dynamic poses.
The arms are hindered by the soft plastic ribbons, and the ball jointed hips are incredibly tight it made me nervous just to move them around.
Digivolving Angewoman into her lesser Gatomon form is incredibly simple, but first you have to fold up her body like this in order to essentially enclose her around the kibble which was all on her back.
Gatomon is an adorable brick, but a brick nonetheless.
Gatomon is an rabbit/cat monster with massive claws, and a cute anime face with virtually no articulation what so ever.
Much like Angewoman once you turn the figure around you see her evolved arms, and a few gaps.
The one thing which irks me a bit is the hinge on the tail, I think the construction could have been a bit more seamless.
Also the bracelet on the tail is di cast metal as well.
Comparing Gatomon to Charizard and Mewtwo.
Since the backpack is removable you can close it all up to make an armless Gatomon; if this were Transformers she’d be a shellformer.
Angewoman is a nice looking display piece (without the backpack) which is easy on the eyes.
Even with those tiny feet the figure can stand well, if you do it right, however I am disappointed with the limited range of motion of the toy; most of the time you’ll have her in a t-pose.
Sadly unlike Figma, or S.H. Figuarts figures which have joints which move like butter, Bandai’s Angewoman just lacks that really smooth construction.
