I feel like I should now.

Even when I was a stan I hated the sex scenes, I thought they were cheesy and overdone. I never really gave them a second thought though, but in hindsight, I really should’ve realized that the material should not have been marketed towards me, a 15 year old at the time.

People are saying that the soap dick is not mess’s fault, but it was her hypersexualization of her own characters that provoked this book box. It was her portrayal of romance as nymphomania that produced the soap dick in question.

These books should not be YA, they should be Adult. The fact that stans are okay with this marketing disturbs me, especially when I see posts about them wanting to high five little girls who read the books (yes, this was an actual post I saw).

As for me, I am an aspiring author as well. I don’t sexualize my characters like that. I believe a character should stand on their own, without the sex appeal. Mess’s characters, unfortunately, don’t, heir only personality traits are their sex appeal. Which is why I’m not surprised at all that this happened.
