What kinds of stories does #ShareYourRejection prioritize? And who do they serve? What other kinds of stories are out there that we're not hearing? Let's talk about it.

5 years ago I left everything I knew and loved, I thought I had put theatre behind me for good. Years of knowing I was better than the bit parts I was (gratefully) receiving and not being able to fix the reason I was only getting that far if so, had finally gotten to me. I packed up and went to try and make my mark in the big city as a solo artist. But thank that wasn’t really me either. I struggled. I thought seriously about moving home. I made some awful choices. I tried and failed to get into the theatre community in #yyz Then @kt_bergs walked into my life and lit it on fire. A story started to form. Songs took shape. Staging and lighting too. Timidly, I started talking about it. Now I’m in a workshop, I’ve applied for grants and retreats, and the sun is out again without a cloud in sight. @gimpymusical has afforded me the ‘artist’ status I never quite felt I was worthy of before now and I’m hoping it sheds a little light on the experiences of artists with disabilities eventually. But, I never would have gotten here without being there. And a lot of help. #ShareYourRejection (thanks to @jmiglehart for the inspo on this one!💙) (at Saint Albert, Alberta)
