perhaps controversial but i think the dexphie kiss is way more endearing and kind than it is awkward, especially since it finally resolves the tension they’ve had since book 1

It came to me, Sophie and Dex have lived through multiple friend groups. They are just that duo

i kinda want to do a series where i psychoanalyze the kotlc characters (and not just the main ones lol) while i’m doing this reread but idk how interested people would be in it? idk i have a lot of thoughts about fitz this time around and keefe’s whole character arc

Okay, can we take a second to talk about Sodex? Like, in Keeper of the Lost Cities, there are two COUSINS who are each other’s first kiss and one of them is crushing on the other. That is so messed up on so many levels. Sure, they aren’t blood related, but adoption, at least in my book and most people who have family who are adopted, is the exact same as being born into the family. You are cousins, by law if not by blood. It’s just gross to me, that Dex had to be a part of the love triangle/whatever-shape-it-is-now. Why couldn’t Shannon make Dex and Sophie cousins with a platonic relationship? If she really wanted to make a love square, toss in Biana or Stina, any kid BUT Dex! I don’t know if I’m taking this way out of hand but I think it is so weird.

Me realizing that there was a sodex kiss but not a sophitz kiss has just dealt me irreparable psychic damage.
