i was at an event last night in california and i went to the bar to order wine bc wine was like, a thing, and i looked at the menu and saw i was completely out of my depth bc idk any wine names, so i turned to my right and there was a man in a gorgeous suit standing at the bar beside me and i said “do you know anything about wine?” and he said “a little, yes!” i told him i liked white and dry wines and asked if he’d order for me. he asked the server for two glasses and had one poured for each of us and then he clinked his glass on mine but he didn’t take a sip, he just watched me taste mine and then he asked what i thought and i said “it’s pretty good, but like i said, i wouldn’t know.” he laughed and told me to have a good time & i walked away. fifteen minutes later i found out he’s the winemaker.

one of the saddest things to me about Jasons death is that we never got to see him and piper rebuild their friendship. We saw their joint awkwardness and confusion over their made-up relationship in tlh, we saw them dating(and not being very good at it) in hoo, and we saw their resentment in toa. but we never got to see them getting to know each other again :( I just would have loveddddd to see how they interact when they’re not actively dating or trying to date. they care for each other so deeply and they never even got to just be dumb teenage bffs together:((((((( we got sm platonic liper and platonic valgrace content but never any platonic jiper. its just that it would have been so sweet and interesting to see them interact and bond when they’re not being pushed together either by outside forces or what they felt they should be doing. Their dynamic is just so fun and not one you rly see in other pjo books and I love it. like they’re friends but they dated but and it didnt work out how they thought it would. they were just scared kids who found comfort in each other:((((((((( god I miss them

I can recognize what the Borg are, for instance, even though I've never seen an episode of Star Trek. I know who Ross and Rachel are despite never seeing an episode of Friends. I knew the SATC theme before I even watched an episode of Sex and the City. I assume it's the same for Jason, who probably knows that there's a fictional character named Darth Vader who has a distinctive voice and armor, despite having never seen Star Wars. It really doesn't take all that much - especially with the members of the legion being the age that they are. Some legionnaire probably made a star wars joke in the middle of casual conversation and that led to Jason having some superficial knowledge of Darth Vader. Cultural osmosis can spread and reinforce that kind of superficial knowledge very quickly and easily.
