I find it somewhat remarkable how bizarrely hyped people get for games, game comes out and it seems to mostly die off. For almost all of January people seemed so hyped for Dying Light 2, but now less than a week later all conversation seems to have died (har) for it, now everyone's going on about Sifu. I'm sure next week it'll be Horizon Forbidden West, then Elden Ring the week after that.
It must be profoundly irritating to be a game developer. Spend years working on a game have it come out dominate social media for two weeks and then bam, forgotten by the majority who move on to the next "big thing."
I wonder what will be the big indie hit of March or so? Last year was Loop Hero, so what do you reckon the big indie darling will be that'll rule conversation for a couple months and die off almost immediately? I feel it's kind of happening to Unpacking. Also sort of Needy Streamer Overload, but I doubt about their broad appeal.
Devil Spire looks exactly like my cup of tea.
