“Your scars tell who you are. Your skin is the page, and your scars are the ink, telling the story of your life. And your scars make you beautiful.” - LIKEL1K3 . . 🌟QOTD: If you were to enter into your current read, how would you fare? . . Happy Tuesday friends!! I had a hard time picking today’s prompt of complex worlds because their are SO MANY amazing authors who excel at world building. But Jay is definitely one of the most creative. From Illuminae and Aurora Rising (hello SPACE?!?) to Nevernight and LIFEL1K3 he has created so many unique places that all feel like they are SUPER real to me! I’m currently reading TRUEL1F3 and I definitely would not survive in this world...or maybe I would become extra scrappy like Lemon Fresh and survive. Either way this book is incredible and I’m going to be sad to leave it when I finish!! Would you survive in your current read’s world? . . Lifel1k3 fucked me up last year so I am so stoked to start this one! Lemon Fresh, here I come!
DEV1AT3 by Jay Kristoff Book Birthday: May 28, 2019 Publisher: Knopf BFYR - Penguin Random House
Lemon Fresh has seen better days. After the climactic battle in Babel, she finds herself separated from Ezekiel and Cricket in the wastelands. Lemon’s abilities to manipulate electricity mark her as a deviate, and deadly corporate operatives are hunting her to use as a weapon in the war between BioMaas Incorporated and Daedelus Technologies. Instead, Lemon finds herself falling in with a group of fellow deviates—a band of teenagers with astonishing abilities, led by an enigmatic figure known as the Major, who may hold the secrets to Lemon’s past. Meanwhile, Cricket finds himself in possession of the puritanical Brotherhood, a religious cult set for a head-on collision with the Major and his band. Searching for Lemon, Ezekiel finds a strange ally in an old enemy, and uncovers a plot that may see him reunited with his beloved Ana. And inside Babel, a remade Eve hatches a plan to bring an end to the world.

July: A Reading Summary
I never do these things early, but I knew that if I don’t do it now, I won’t do it. I skipped June because time got away with me, but June was only 4 books as well, so July was definitely an improvement in the reading department. To be fair, most of these were e-books, one was a graphic novel, and one was a novella. However, this was still better than my last couple of months. All of these received a 3 or higher star rating for me so not only did I get a lot read, but I also read books I actually ended up liking.
I have also purchased new book cases for my office. They’re the Billy ones from IKEA that are all the rage. While I was visiting in Jacksonville, I stopped at their store and picked them up. I can’t wait to get them together and get my office re-arranged. I’m also excited for the more space because I am maxed out. My books are kind of all over the place right now because I don’t have the space. I have a creeping suspicion that two book cases won’t be enough.
I wanted to finish Obsidio before the month was out, but alas, that didn’t happen. I needed a break after basically listening to Illuminae and Gemina back to back. I’m currently listening to it now, and I’m sure by Friday, I’ll be done. My goal this month is to actually get finish We Hunt The Flame. I don’t have anything else scheduled for August except the Fat-A-Thon happening on Twitter. I haven’t done any type of reading-thons before so I’m excited to start this. I got some books saved on Scribd, and my bestest is letting me borrow a book or two for it, so we’ll see how much I can read in that week.
Onto August, chums!

Five Stars
Holy cow! I may have loved this installment even more than the first book. I really love Lemon Fresh and this is primarily her book. So much happens in this book that I feel like everything is a spoiler so I'll try to stick very close to the synopsis. After the big fight at Babel, Lemon Fresh finds herself separated from Cricket and Ezekiel. A BioMaas agent, Hunter, is intent on bringing Lemon to the heart of BioMaas so she can be used to put an end to Daedelus Technologies. I really enjoyed Hunter's character. She was very badass and could do some really cool things. Lemon Fresh eventually finds herself falling in with a group deviates who call themselves Homo Superior. They believe they are the future of the world and are engaged in a war with the fanatical Brotherhood. I liked the fellow deviates but one, in particular, was my funking favorite. Meanwhile, Cricket in his new big body gets kidnapped and sold to fight in the WarDome and his win gains the attention of Sister Dee, the head of the Brotherhood. She buys him to represent the Brotherhood in more arena fights. Fighting for the Brotherhood Cricket meets a young man named Abraham who has my whole heart and some interesting secrets. Ezekiel is forced to team up with one of my favorite characters from Lifelike and the two of them are so much fun together. Finally, Eve, she only has a few scenes in this book but it's clear that she's trying to figure out who she is and what she wants in light of everything that happened in Lifelike. Her confusion and anger lead her down a very violent path. The end of this book was absolutely insane. I am not okay and I will not be okay until I have book 3 in my hands.
“The Lord had saved his life that day. But it was Daedalus wo plucked him from that carnage and made him better. Faster. Stronger. In return, they bought themselves a soldier who knew what it was to look dying in the eye. A soldier more machine than man. A soldier loyal to the death.”
