44. Which member of UB do you feel you are most similar to?

Definitely Felix/Farah but 50% less funny and 100% more social anxiety lmao

77. Does your detective dream of a future with their LI? If so, what is it like?

Kira absolutely wants it, and probably daydreams more than she'd like to admit. She doesn't know what it would be like, being with Adam, but she'd want to marry him if he ever accepts his feelings. They would live near the beach somewhere quiet, and maybe have about 2 children.

3. How did they get the promotion to detective and what do they think about it?

She wasn’t expecting the promotion, but I think if Detective Reele hadn’t retired when she did, Kira would have started working toward it in another six months to a year. She thinks she’s too young to be essentially in charge of the police in Wayhaven, since except for Douglas she’s the youngest at the station (she’s 25 at the start of Book 1, turns 26 between books 1 and 2), but she’s good at her job and is a natural leader. 

She doesn’t realize that everyone at the WPD has been quietly thinking of her as their boss for ages, even before Reele left, and she’s the only person there who didn’t find her promotion both obvious and well deserved.

6. What’s their relationship to Bobby?

In a word, bad. She dated him in year 1 at university for a couple months, they had a few classes together (she being an English Lit major and him being in journalism, there was a fair bit of overlap) and she recognized him. She’d never been away from home before, she was lonely and he was familiar, so for a while she pretended that was enough. It wasn’t, plus he’s a thief and an asshole (and the sex was disappointing anyway) and she doesn’t want anything to do with him anymore. Unfortunately, he won’t fucking go away.

She is coldly polite to him when she has to talk to him for work purposes, and only barely not outright hostile if he talks to her outside of business hours. If he keeps calling her “angel” she is going to break something. Possibly a chair. Over his head.

7. Who is their Love Interest and why?

this is actually a tricky question, because I’ve been doing all four routes with Kira :) I’m a big fan of making just one OC and fleshing them out as much as possible and seeing the different ways they connect with different characters. And all of Unit Bravo are just so lovely, how could I pick just one?

Kira feels a connection to Adam that she doesn’t fully understand. He’s gorgeous, obviously - of the four, he’s the most Her Type from a physical standpoint (those arms goddamn). Like, his eyes are even her favorite color. Yes, she’s noticed. Yes, she’s trying to pretend she doesn’t. But even beyond the physical, she feels... drawn to him. She wants him to notice her, feels ridiculously proud of herself when he compliments her on her skill as a detective and her place on the team. She is also pretty aware by this point that she’s head over heels in love with him and possibly always has been and is trying to come to terms with that, which would be a lot easier to do if he’d stop looking at her like that because it makes her forget how to speak.

Nate and Kira have a lot in common, both personality-wise and in their interests and hobbies, but in her mind he’s probably the one she least expected to end up with. He’s just so charming and romantic and that’s never really been her thing, but god how could anyone resist that smile? She doesn’t notice she’s doing it, but she tries to smooth out some of her rougher edges for him (she cusses a lot less with him than the others). She has never in her life wanted to kiss someone so badly (they earned that ferris wheel kiss goddammit). He makes her feel special and precious and seen in a way she’s never felt before.

Felix and Kira are almost complete opposites, but their relationship is just so... easy. Effortless. It feels like he’s always been there, or was supposed to be. He brings her out of her shell and reminds her how to have fun, and she sees past the grin to the man underneath, even the parts he tries to keep hidden away. He’s so sweet and open about how he feels that it just breaks through all her reservations and it’s impossible not to fall for him. She wants to show him the world, all the things he’s never gotten to see, the things about being human that she’s always taken for granted before. Paper airplanes are only the beginning.

I saved Mason for last because I have so many emotions about Kira and Mason and how well they fit together. I had written about them in the past (like, last October) that he doesn’t bother her or drain her social batteries as much as other people do, that she feels calm and peaceful with him in a way she never has with anyone else... and then in Book 2, he says the same thing about her. I wrote a fic (in December) where Kira shows Mason her secret hiding place, the roof of her apartment where she likes to go in the middle of the night and just get away from it all... and then in Book 2, he does the same thing for her. Like, they’re perfect for each other. I can’t wait until they figure that out. Their sharp edges fit together. She doesn’t have to pretend to be someone she isn’t when she’s with him. He makes her feel desired in a way she never has before, and she likes that he’s upfront about what he wants from her and even though she knows she is developing feelings for him (she has no idea just how much yet, but she knows they’re there) she’s not going to ask for anything he isn’t willing to give. Plus, the sex is fantastic.

14. Do they get along with Tina and Verda?

Tina introduced herself and told Kira they were going to be best friends, and nothing since then has done anything to prove her wrong. She’s Kira’s Person. They have a standing monthly movie night that they call “date night” (because in Tina’s mind, it’s the closest Kira ever gets to a date... until Unit Bravo comes to town) that they have only broken once ever in the time they’ve known each other.

Verda and Kira are both introverts, so their friendship has been building a little slower, but they get along well. She has enough scientific and deductive knowledge that he doesn’t worry about intimidating her with nerdy shit, and she appreciates his subtle humor and the sense of calm that he brings.

20. What is their personality?

Kira is friendly and kind and caring for the most part, though she is also very introverted (she got a whopping 99% introverted score on that myers-briggs personality quiz). She is good with people but doesn’t really like people, at least not for long periods of time. Her sense of humor can be very sharp and sarcastic once she starts to relax around someone, and she cusses like a sailor. She tends to be quiet when she can be and is stubborn as a rock. She is also super shy... until she isn’t :3 I think she’s only really reached the “until she isn’t” point with Mason so far, sometimes... maybe a bit with Nate.

24. How did they handle the fight with Murphy? Did they get bitten?

Yup! She’s close to Tina and she got to know Verda after a while.

15. What do they think of Unit Bravo? How has that changed throughout the story?

She hated Adam and Mason. Now, she’s romancing Adam like the clown she is. Also, Mason’s now her best friend.

AJ hates him. He is maybe the entire person in the whole world she would say that about, but she does. She’s only interacted with him a few times prior to book 1 but just off his reputation for taking advantage of people, bribery, and exploiting the misfortune of others for his own gain, she hates his guts.(she still feels guilty when he gets infected in book 2 bc she’s detective and it’s her job to protect him, but she’s mad at herself for feeling guilty)

For Janine and Kasey he’s an ex-friend. Janine’s one of those “Best revenge is living well” people and so she’s cordial to him when they have to interact, but otherwise doesn’t really think about it much. Kasey still holds a grudge and gets even more bitingly sarcastic than with anyone else when she has to deal with him.

He’s Mallory’s ex-boyfriend and she does her best not to think about that fact or let him get under her skin., but if he calls her “Angel” one mORE GODDAMN TIME, well, she knows a lot of extremely painful pressure points on the human body.

 8. What’s their relationship with their mom like? How did it change?

All of my girls love their Mama. It’s another of those things I just always do. I think the worst any of them ever ended up is I have a Kasey run where their relationship is at....86% at the end of book 1? AJ and Mallory are a little more understanding of the keeping secrets, but all of them love her and think she’s badass and their relationships only get better once they know.

24. How did they handle the fight with Murphy? Did they get bitten?

Heh heh. AJ suffered a bit from “blind first run”-itis (but at the same time I don’t regret it) and got bitten on the neck and Murphy got away because she tried to fight instead of talking him down(her protective instincts and adrenaline had taken over)

Mallory punched Murphy in the face when he tried to bite her, and went the combat route to take him down(sure, she and Adam make a good team, but that doesn’t Mean Anything)

Janine dodged when Murphy went to bite her and talked him down long enough for Adam to hit him with the DMB.

Kasey tried to punch Murphy in the face, but failed and got bitten on the wrist. She also went the combat route for taking Murphy down(I think she must’ve been just barely high enough /sweats) bc she’s just so pissed at this ASSHOLE. (sidenote: idk if it’s just me, but there is nothing more cathartic than taking Murphy down via combat when you’re romancing Mason. Knocking him out the same way he did Mason is just poetic cinema and so incredibly satisfying. Had she not been unconscious and bleeding to death, Kasey would probably have had a comment of the “how do you like it?!” variety for him)
