Emotions were so...confusing and hard to control. Even with being technically reintegrated into society, Corwin still acted out, still did things that kept people at bay. Humans kept their distance because of his temper and bad attitude. Androids kept their distance because they knew what he had tried to do during the Revolution in the vain hope of putting a stop to the whole thing.
It got exhausting, always being scrutinized. And Corwin started playing into their beliefs. After all, he was “bad” wasn’t he? Might as well act that way too. Really prove them right, it wasn’t like he would amount to anything else.
Hearing Hank’s declaration of him being good, and that he cared, made Corwin’s face flush and he looked away, his stress levels wavering. “After everything I did to you, I don’t know why you would care at all,” he admitted.
