I Know What You Did Last Summer (IKWYDLS)
IKWYDLS is a tradition of the Innovation Design Engineering class at the Royal College of Art / Imperial College, London (of which I am a part of), where the students who move from the first to the second year make 3 minute films or give 3 minute presentations to show what they did between the two years, in the summer.
To me, the name itself felt like a noir film, and I decided to roll with this first idea I got. I’ve not made many films in the past - let alone films with a narrative or humour. While I was making it, I thought that this was either the stupidest thing I’d ever made or the funniest (Thankfully the response meant it was the latter).
Since I couldn’t speak of much of my work at my internships, (being under NDAs) I decided to keep it deliberately nebulous and devoid of detail.
A big shoutout to my best friend growing up, Om Marathe, for being such a sport with the crazy idea that I had and acting is the 5-second antagonist in my film. I dug out our school photograph from the time we were 4 or 5 years old and manipulated it to suit the narrative.
I presented it to a crowd of about a hundred people, with 46 of my own class, 45 fresh juniors and about 10 professors in a cozy lecture theatre at the RCA on October 3rd, 2017. The response was really heartwarming and humbling. I was so glad that people liked my movie as much as they did! :)

Why Scale is so Important in Graphic Design
Scale in graphic design is just as important as the other elements of design. The same attention you give to elements like color, shape, typography, symbols, space and texture should be the same attention you give to scale. Without checking on the scale as you design, you stand to compromise the entire work since it will have a direct impact on the…

The wonderful thing I see in the future is that designers, who used to be relegated to putting the beautiful finishing touches on something at the last minute, are now being brought in at the beginning of the conversation because our way of thinking is valued in solving big, complex problems. That is the future for design.
