How long after a very stubborn tooth gets pulled out are you supposed to keep bleeding into your own mouth? For reference it was an extremely difficult extraction, but like... It's been 4 hours and I am not enjoying this.
I have some gauze they gave me but it is downstairs and I am not downstairs. Please ensure any advice involves taking a medically necessary nap, thank you.
Also I asked if I could see it when my mouth was numb and full of gauze and they misunderstood me, so if anyone has any ideas for what to do with an intact molar with a large silver filling... Hit me up I guess.
Amity’s fangs start growing in, and everything goes animal crackers.
The thing is, removal of fangs is sort of like removal of wisdom teeth, with one major caveat; while nowadays wisdom teeth are almost always removed, on the Boiling Isles, fang removal is usually considered optional, and done on a case by case basis.
You don’t need to get your fangs removed, but sometimes it can mess with your orthodonture or they grow in crooked, and need to be removed because of that. And again, it’s only sometimes. And sometimes it isn’t even both fangs. Willow Park, for example, gets to keep both of her fangs, while her father Gilbert had to get his left removed as a child. JUST his left, though. (Poor Maxim had to get both removed :(
But the Blights ‘don’t suffer imperfection’ according to Odalia, and Emira, Edric, AND Odalia have all had their fangs removed. Alador was a rare case, where if his fangs were removed, it would have made everything WORSE, so he actually needed to keep both of his. And this is where the problem for Amity comes in...
Brown hair, big eyes, detached ears, even that weird thing where she can pop her thumb out of its socket and put it back in...Amity may have Odalia’s face, but she’s Aladors child (due to an HC we don’t have time to get into bc I SAID SO) and that includes in the fang department.
Her fangs begin to grown in, she’s sore all the time, and her mother takes her to the healing coven and says ‘straight or not, I want the removed’.
But when the healing coven says ‘she has the same issue as her father, if we remove the fangs then everything will be much, much worse for her, trust us on this’ Odalia throws a fit...After all, ‘The Blight Family does not suffer imperfection where it can be corrected’. And there is a way of fixing that particular problem. One not open to Alador, but definitely open to Amity.
Odalia wants to remove ALL of Amity’s teeth and put in implants. Naturally, the Healing coven says they’re not going to do it, and openly insults Odalia for thinking they would do something so extreme. “If you really thought we were going to do THAT, perhaps we should tell the Oracle coven to reconsider your position in their ranks...”
Eventually the Blights decide to let Amity keep her fangs, but she has no real clue how to deal with it? Neither of her siblings have experience with fang pain, and her father is a very...distant...man. So she’s not getting anything out of him.
And this whole time, Odalia said she’d remove all of Amity’s teeth, but never told her that the procedure wasn’t going to happen, so every time Amity falls asleep she’s afraid she’s gonna wake up with drills in her mouth, and that starts occupying her nightmares...
There’s a lot going on with Amity’s teeth, is what I’m trying to say.
Also, obviously, Luz finds the idea of dating a girl with fangs super cool.
Who let me even pass elementary school when I only learned that cavities aren't little parasites that live in your teeth YESTERDAY

hi winnie weird question but do u have ur wisdome teeth??? i had to get the ones on my left side taken out as an emergency last month. it was rly scary imo. i always identified as somebody who has their wisdome teeth and now theyre gone!! its weird, but im sad about it:( like i feel like im losing wisdom or something!!!! i have to get the others taken out soon. also the doctor barged in and was like "theyve gotta go, no choice theyre gonna destroy your little jaw" and im like thatpikachumeme o.o
Baby!!!! Omg this ask is literally the cutest. I'm sorry you went through that it honestly sounds so scary!! I had both my wisdom teeth taken out in high school. Its the only major surgery I've ever had and it was very frightening- I had a bad reaction to the anesthesia and got very nauseated, but I was just fine and recovered within a week or two:) I know you will adjust to life without your wisdom teeth- I know it's super weird to have a part of your body just removed like that!!
a story in three parts:
1) realize i forgot i opened a bottle of wine before my broken tooth debacle 2) google “ can you drink alcohol while taking antibiotics” 3) forget mouth pain by becoming drunk on almost sour wine
Reading cosmic horror, I always think that I'd handle eldritch knowledge fairly well, given the many intimidating truths about existence you face when you were an uninnocent child and have always embodied many things even nice people consider repulsive. But then every time I get a filling, I walk out of the dentist's office thinking that people were not ever meant to know the smell of their own tooth being vaporized with a drill, and maybe some kind of contract with existence has been violated.
