Evie's Fall From Grace In My Eyes
I have come to the conclusion that evie is actually a horrible character. I used to be just grey on her. But over the past couple of months I've reassessed the movies, and realized that even in D1 where I used to think she at least had some good in her, her actions are questionable.
Even in D1 evie was the one who supported the love spell the most. She helped Mal get ready for the date. When I'm pretty sure she would have been more aware of the implications of a love spell more than then the other three being the daughter of the evil queen. (in most older versions of Snow White doesn't EQ seduce Snow White's father?) She was the only one of the VK's to question Mal's decision to take it off and was shocked that Mal was even considering it. evie is fine with Ben's agency being taken away permanently.
In D2 she is flat out unemphatic and pushy to Mal. She lectures Mal about using magic to help herself, and about giving up her spell book just because she gave up her mirror. Mal tries to say that she misses the Isle, and evie just laughs at her being vulnerable and basically says 'don't miss your old life don't ruin this for me.'
She has NO CARE for Ben's LIFE when he's captured by Uma and is willing to sacrifice him to keep living her 'good life' in auradon. Or so she clearly thinks.
Even Space Between which was supposedly meant to to be evie apologizing it still sounded like she blamed Mal.
In D3 she just assumes what Mal's going to do about the barrier without actually letting Mal speak. Then when she finds out its not what she thinks she rips into and guilt trips Mal for 'lying.' Even though she would have known what was happening if she didn't assume.
And do you want to know the WORST thing about evie? She is framed as GOOD by the writing and fandom for all these actions!
So yeah evie has officially been demoted to my 'hate status' with a lower case letter. Do not look to me to be kind to her character.
Because I will be one of the FEW in this fandom that actually CALL HER OUT.
