Cho’s never really liked lipstick. She’s never liked the way it looks on her and she could never master the charms to keep the paint from smudging. It’s just not her thing. Only after she pulls away from Fleur Delacour’s perfectly painted lips — the most beautiful shade of pink she’s ever seen — and finds her own lips (and chin, and cheeks, and neck, and even her thumb) stained by her lipstick, does Cho change her mind. Lipstick looks damn good on her when it’s not her own — especially the shade Fleur wears. Cho decides she’ll start wearing it more regularly.

Class is dismissed but Cho continues working, adding finishing touches to her piece, so engrossed that she doesn't notice the figure standing besides her.
"You're really good!" the voice marvels and Cho startles.
"Oh, t-thank you," she blushes. "I had a beautiful model."
"You're too kind," Fleur laughs, tilting her head and admiring the portrait in front of her. "Is this how I really look?" she asks taking in the cascading waves that frame her face and beautiful doe eyes that crinkle with her smile. She looks beautiful, real and happy.
"Oh, do you not like it?" Cho is concerned.
"It's lovely. The students here are good and their paintings are nice. But this is..." she trails off blushing.
Cho smiles shyly and the girls stare at each other for a beat. "Do you mind waiting so I can finish it?" Cho requests just as Fleur asks if she can buy her a bubble tea.
Both girls giggle and Fleur says, "Let's go. I'll buy the boba and you can complete the sketch. I might even make you a little something myself. I'm quite skilled at origami, if I do say so myself."
Cho's face lights up. "Lead the way!"

“You know,” Cho said as they walked, gathering her thoughts, “your Quidditch skills really are improving. You did an almost perfect loop earlier, and your only mistake in your last attempt was you waited until you were too close to the ground to start the maneuver. You'll be excellent on a broom in no time if you keep up like this.”
Fleur smiled. “You flatter me, darling,” she said, and reached out to tuck a wet strand of Cho's hair behind her ear. Her smile widened when she added, “You yourself have managed to look very graceful when you fall on your butt while ice skating.”

When Fleur flinched beneath her touch, Cho made a soft, pained sound.
“Still tender?” she asked, lightly brushing the skin beside the curse scar cutting its way down the side of Fleur’s face. It would never fully heal, but she was sure one day it would fade from angry pink to a faded silver.
“Only a little,” Fleur said, catching her hand and pressing a kiss to her palm. “It is my pride that still stings, but I suppose I look very dashing now, no? Like a proper hero of the war.”
Cho smiled and kissed beside the scar.
“You were always my hero.”

Now, years after the war, Cho believed her girlfriend wholeheartedly. Cedric’s loss was still a part of her— she didn’t think she wanted that to end — but she’d stopped hurting the way she had. Fleur had been there the whole way. “I never doubted you,” Fleur told her, “I’m so proud of you.”
