It occurs to me that everyone else talks about method and style with mini painting, and while I’d never claim to be an expert I do practice a fairly unique style that I like to call “my fucking best”
Generally this involves assembling models multiple times in dry fit before flying anything together. It’s rare I will make on model “perfect” and more commonly Ill shoot for overall balance of “good enough” across the board.
After everyone’s pulled themselves together and I’ve pulled my glued fingers apart and cleaned all the bits of skin off the models, then I hit everyone with an overall black coat.
With special care to get up skirts and into armpits, cracks and crevices. I used to use rustoleum but now I use the airbrush black primer that came with my airbrush (heaven help me when it runs out).
Following that I swap to white and it them again from an upward angle downward. I’ve been told this is technically called a “Zenithal highlight” but I prefer call it “pretty fucking cool” since I don’t support Robert Zenithal and his position on the great Hegemon or his opinions on tree dwelling elves.
If this get single like then I’ll be back with these guys probably tomorrow once the primer is proper cured to do one or two of em in color.
