I can’t reply to this directly seeing how I can’t reblog the post, but with the attention around the “fauxscum” thing, I wanted to write a reply to this post.

Maybe those feelings are legitimate sex dysphoria. But given that the only evidence here is someone claiming it is, that can be wrong, too. Feelings can be misinterpreted. And "my feels are enough evidence" is not much of an argument. In fact, it is the exact same argument 'tucutes' make.

I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you’re just ignorant, not being actively hostile.

“Transsexual” was the medical term for this condition from the time medical treatment started, until trans activism started in the early 1990′s, so 45 years give or take. And the reason people have moved away from “transsexual” and adopted “transgender” is that the majority of trans women have no interest in genital surgery, so they wanted a more “inclusive” term that intentionally left their genitals ambiguous. Why did they want that? Because since the beginning of transsexual medical treatment, genital reconstruction surgery was the cornerstone of the so-called “sex change”. In contrast, the transgender agenda is pushing the idea that legal sex change should be based on personal identification, ie the idea that penis is actually a female organ. Meanwhile, as you point out, porn films continued to use the terms “transsexual” and shemale to refer to pre-op trans women.

I refer to myself as a transsexual because I got a so-called sex change. That was the terminology that was used when I was a teen/20-something, and I think I have a right to it. I also refer to myself as transsexual rather than transgendered because I disagree with a lot of transgender ideology: I don’t support legal change of sex designation on demand, I don’t think penis is female, I don’t believe in brain sex, and I don’t believe in male supremacy. All of those ideas are very deeply encoded in trans activism! So in this day and age, by calling myself a transsexual I hope to differentiate my politics.

Furthermore, I think it makes sense to reserve the term transsexual for people who experience sex dysphoria. Maybe it’s just a line in the sand? There are certainly plenty of non-op trans women (no intention to get genital surgery) who I have total respect for - like Kat Blaque. But then, there are the fucking rape-minded assholes like Avery Edison and Jetta Rae. I have ZERO in common with them.

I hate to break this to you but the medical field shares information throughout itself? Scientists publish journal articles to get peer reviewed and use other journal articles to help inform or reinforce their own work. The medical field bases its assessments and actions on the research field.

+ i never said that a bigender person cannot have internal genitals dysphoria and top dysphoria. i have both of those and they’re as bad as my bottom dysphoria. i refer to bottom=external genitals.. since for bigender, some of us might not have internal/top dysphoria so that’s why i separate things like this. in any way i don’t understand why you hate me if you agree to the correct definition of bigender. guess just jumping on the bandwagon? 2/2

Okay followers, here’s a lesson in etiquette - when asking questions about dysphoria, this is not how one does so respectfully. Asking “do you have dysphoria?” is respectful, not that invasive and can easily be left at that. However, “what kind of genital dysphoria do you have? you have the “right” kind, right?” is invasive, rude, inappropriate and, in cases of people with more sensitive dysphoria, can actually cause dysphoria. 

You do not have a right to know what type of dysphoria I experience. The way I explained it is what I mean. I desire male and female sex characteristics. I have more severe chest dysphoria than anything else at the moment (moment meaning current period of my life). 

That is all I will tell you. And that is all you need to know. You should not ask explicit details about other people’s dysphoria, that’s disgusting. And it’s also not for you to know - therapists, endocrinologists, surgeons, doctors - are all qualified and allowed to know. Not some whiny brat on the internet who thinks they are entitled to calling someone else’s therapist in order to find out personal information (info courtesy of grandtran thank you). Not someone who repeatedly has shown violent, abusive behaviors and continues to unapologetically harass and annoy and misgender other people. Proof. Proof. Even more proof. Wow look at these! 

That is why I dislike you. I have been in the truscum community for a while now and you have always been a persistent, abhorrent presence to everyone except your loser friends. I came to my own conclusion of how repulsive you are by watching you interact with people. Any person - anti-truscum, tucute, truscum, you name it - if they do not 100% agree with your ideals, then you are 100% okay with telling them violent threats, death threats, making fun of them, misgendering, gosh, those four alone are just such awful points…

There was no “bandwagon” that needed jumping on. I watched you hurt multiple people, many of those people my friends, and many of those people (pretty much all of those people actually) were completely not deserving the sickening treatment you gave them.

+ the correct word to call us is transgender and not the porn/fetish term transsexual. as someone who is anti-porn myself and hate this word, i will never call myself or anyone else that. i have seen some radfems insist on calling transgender people this and i hope to appeal to their disgust of porn but then again when they see gender they automatically think in radfem terms and yeah, there's a misunderstanding sometimes. 2/3

the radfems i really can't understand are those who think you can wish away sex dysphoria with some therapy and meditation, completely disregarding what transgender people tell them. we can't get rid of dysphoria in any other way but through transition and this talk is kinda pointless. for many of us is transition or death and it's the right thing to do. 3/3 (btw not talking about you, i just had a radfem truscum friend of mine be banned from a radfem safe space for saying this :( )

i think we’re actually on the same page wrt most things. however, gender IS gender roles, and it’s not just “radfem terms”. Though most people either use “gender” as a more socially-acceptable alternative to “sex” or to refer to some ambiguous internal “identity” (*coughs* tumblr), it really refers to the social roles of masculinity and femininity, which are imposed on males and females, respectively. it is really important that the distinction between gender and sex be made, because if not then we end up obfuscating terms like “transsexual” and “transgender.” 

As you probably know, transsexual is the older term and refers to people with sex dysphoria who transition medically. to my knowledge (and bear in mind it isn’t all-inlcusive by any means, so take what i say with a grain of salt) it wasn’t until the 70s when these people were clumped into the transgender community, which included non-dysphoria people who were simply gnc. why transsexual has fallen out of use is up for debate, but may be because “sex” is seen as indecent (much like how people began to use gender when they mean sex in the conservative era that was the 80s), or because it comes off as more medical/clinical and therefore stigmatizing (much like “homosexual”). I understand your concerns over its relation to porn, but frankly, anything can be the right term for something and still be used as a fetish category. A look at any porn site (which trust me, being a feminist, i avoid) will show categories like “asian,” “latina” and “lesbian”--words that are still used despite their connection to porn. also, to my knowledge, terms like “tr*nny” and “sh*male” are used more frequently than “transsexual.” finally, from my association with a number of gender-critical trans people, i’ve gotten the impression that “transsexual is the term they prefer, as it most adequately describes their situation. after all, transition has to do with sex characteristics (genitals, body hair, etc.) and no matter how you define gender, it doesn’t really change how you’ve been socialized. 

that said, i totally have respect for people who don’t want the term transsexual used to refer to them, as it’s a complicated term with a lot of unpleasant social and etymological history. frankly, semantics in this context are really complicated, and the screwball nature of internet politics doesn’t help anything. As long as there is a distinction made between trans individuals with sex dysphoria and gnc people who erroneously claim the trans label, i don’t mind what people want to be called. i also personally believe, as do a lot of radfems of my generation, that sex dysphoria is legitimate and medically relevant, though less common than people think. we think that in a post-gender world, people who’s dysphoria comes as a result of discomfort with gender would not feel the need to transition, and fewer people would be trans as a result. however, in the meantime we support anyone who feels the need to transition to get the medical help they need, regardless of the nature of their dysphoria, and as such probably align pretty closely with truscum/transmedicalists. it’s a really hotly debated issue but i think the radfem community is coming to an understanding that transsexual/transgender people are not the enemy, but gender and the people who enforce it are.
