it’s amazing how radblr has invented whole cloth a canon of “radical feminist” thought that has almost nothing to do with any movement history and draws almost exclusively on a bunch of bloggers and like, five books, only half of which are by even self-proclaimed radical feminists
inb4 someone hits me with the OK THEN WHAT SHOULD WE BE READING???
for starters
The Dialectic of Sex - Shulamith Firestone
Firebrand Feminism: The Radical Lives of Ti-Grace Atkinson, Kathie Sarachild, Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz, and Dana Densmore - Breanne Fahs
Backlash - Susan Faludi
Without Apology: the Abortion Struggle Now - Jenny Brown
Daring to be Bad: Radical Feminism in America 1967-1975 - Alice Echols
I made this half assed list at 2am bc I was annoyed but it’s gotten a couple notes so I’m taking it as a sign …. I Will be finishing and posting my reading guide/curriculum that covers the history of and major schools of thought within radical feminism and it’s relationship to marxist/socialist feminisms, materialist feminism, cultural feminism, etc. … SOONISH and if I don’t I give u full permission to bother me about it
in the meantime, make a free account on redstockings.org and avail yourself of this excellent anthology of primary sources from the women who started the second wave/women’s liberation movement
pls feel free to reblog with additions/commentary :-)
