Unity of knowledge This was first published in the University Observer, online and in print. Biology has Darwin's theory of evolution and physics has the Standard Model but, at present, there is no equivalently unifying theory in the social sciences.

overthinking
The clock is ticking, Â Â yet time is at a standstill. There were piles of papers on her desk, files that she had yet to go through and approve. Her laptop has been turned on since the night before, and will probably end up frying itself, but she paid no mind. The otherwise pristine floor now has clothes strewn all over it and her otherwise obsessive compulsive mind that would have cleared it already now did not seem to care at all. Her windows were opened, curtains were drawn back, allowing the raindrops of the late summer rain to pound against the glass panes. pitter patter pitter patter The white noise was loud, but her thoughts were louder. There were things that demanded her attention but there were more important things on her mind right now, Or at least they were for her. She was sitting in the corner of the room, in numbness and all and waited. Seconds passed by. Then a minute did. Then an hour, The clothes were still scattered everywhere, her laptop was still frying itself, the papers were still unsigned, But still she waited. What was she even waiting for? She gazed out the window and just stared. She was certain that there were buildings outside, bricks red and roofs green, but all she saw was gray, Not a solid, opaque color, but an amalgamation of different shades, in patches and in specks and blended by fog and clouds and smoke. Quite like her mind, she thought. She decided to wait some more until the skies turned darker. pitter patter pitter patter Her thoughts had been loud, but the white noise was louder now, insufferable, like chalk scratching on a blackboard. She warily stood up, as if anticipating something, anything, Then walked toward the window and drew the curtains. The clock is ticking, Â Â Â and time goes on. And it was fine.
