In My Time of Dying

I always get the feeling that when John goes off to summon Azazel, and Sam goes to Dean's room to talk through everything, that Dean knows exactly what they need to do. Knows exactly what John is up to, and knows that Sam needs to find John and stop him.

I get the feeling that Sam knows all this too; some weird vibe, or niggling thought at the back of his brain. But he just doesn't care.

John and Sam are alike enough to know that Dean needs to live, deserves to live, must, at any cost, wake up. So John gets to go through with his deal. John has lived his life, has loved, laughed, and seen his sons grow up. He's tired; it's time to go.
