Important Events in the Third Year of Jesus’ Ministry
The Third year of Jesus’ ministry begins at the 3rd Passover up to Palm Sunday. This period is a few days shy of a complete year and Jesus would have been around 32 years of age at the beginning of the year. This is known as the “Year of Opposition”. Given below is the list of the main events that occurred during the year:
Jesus travels to Phoenicia (Mark 7:24)
He heals the daughter of a Syro-Phoenician woman (Matthew 15:21-28)
Jesus travels from Phoenicia to Decapolis (Mark 7:31)
Deaf and Dumb man healed (Mark 7:32-37)
4000 people fed with 07 loaves and a few fishes (Matthew 15:32-39)
Jesus goes to Bethsaida (Mark 8:22)
A blind man is healed (Mark 8:22-26)
Jesus travels from Bethsaida to Caesarea Philippi
The disciples and Jesus go up to the mount of transfiguration (Luke 9:28)
The Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-13)
The demon possessed child is healed (Mark 9:17-27)
Jesus returns to Capernaum (Mark 9:30-33)
The 70 disciples are instructed and sent out (Luke 10:1-16)
Jesus travelled from Capernaum through Samaria to Bethany (Luke 17:11)
Jesus heals 10 lepers near Samaria (Luke 17:12-16)
A woman that had committed adultery brought to Jesus (John 8:3-11)
Jesus attended the ‘Feast of the Dedication’ (John 10:22-29)
Jesus returns to Bethabara (John 10:40-42)
Lazarus is raised from the dead (John 11:1-54)
Jesus visits Zacchaeus, the chief of the publicans (Luke 19:1-28)
A blind man named Bartimaeus is healed (Mark 10:46-52)
Jesus arrived at Bethany again six days before the Passover (John 12:9-11)
Jesus triumphantly welcomed in to Jerusalem by the multitude (Matthew 21:1-11)
