Just like Last Year, Fabio Quartararo leaves the British GP 2026 without a Single Point scored
Fabio Quartararo came close to winning the British GP at Silverstone last year, only for a mechanical problem to prevent him from taking victory. This year, Quartararo was nowhere near the fight for the win and ultimately left Silverstone without scoring a single point.
Fabio Quartararo finished 14th in the Sprint and was hoping to improve his position in the full length race. Quartararo initially crossed the finish line in 12th place, but was later handed a penalty that dropped him down the order. The penalty was issued because the tyre-pressure monitoring system on Quartararo's motorcycle had not been configured correctly.
The receiver responsible for collecting data from the front tyre-pressure sensor was not set up properly, resulting in the system failing to record the required data. As a result, Quartararo was handed a 16-second time penalty. The penalty dropped Quartararo from 12th to 16th place, leaving him at the bottom of the riders who finished the race and, once again, without a point at Silverstone.
As the official race direction statement explained.
"After the race had finished, the motorbike was summoned to the technical inspection for a check. During the inspection, it emerged that the on-board receiver had not been correctly configured to receive tyre pressure data from the front tyre sensor. The sensor ID was not stored in the receiver’s database, which meant that no actual data on the front tyre was recorded during the race."
