I don't know what to say. This is exactly what it looks like... (Dean's jacket and Cas's trenchcoat gained sentience and are going at it)
I blame the destiel discord server.

Also Dean wearing John's jacket and Sam wearing his season one Carhartt jacket in this episode where the ghost of John once again haunts the narrative, god I love the unspoken on this show
August 23rd excerpt:
Nate's brow lifted a little to see the borrower emerge. He wasn't sure what he'd been expecting, but almost everything about Dean caught him off-guard.
Dean was young, no older than Stan or Nate themselves, but not far behind them. He had a sharp look about him, from his spiked haircut to his boots. Even sported a leather jacket to complete the rugged ensemble.
May 8th excerpt:
“What are you planning?” Sam asked curiously as he made himself at home, pushing Dean’s collar up to block him from sight and leaning against his older brother’s neck. Just another day, living with his giant brother.
“Oh… I’m sure there’s something we can do with him.”
February 2nd excerpt:
Asleep or not, the moment Sam latched a hand on Dean’s jacket to scale up to his chest, the steady breathing pattern hitched underneath his touch. Sam smiled, knowing that meant Dean had woken up.
He didn’t halt his climb, though, or even miss a beat. It took him mere moments to reach the top, and he sat down right over Dean’s heart. “How’s the ground treating you?” he called up to Dean with a knowing grin as Dean continued to pretend sleep. There was a furrow in Dean’s brow at Sam’s words, but nothing more.

Ok, so I’m watching Love on Netflix, right? And the male protagonist (I use that word extremely loosely here) works as a tutor on the set of a show called Witchita and in episode 6 he gets the woman in charge of costumes to lend him a brown leather jacket, and she spends the whole episode reminding him that he has to give it back and I spend the whole episode expecting him to walk off the lot with it accidentally and wondering ‘Is this how Dean Winchester’s jacket got lost?’
(Spoiler alert: he gives the jacket back.)
Some days you just get the urge to cosplay destiel.
Have you any idea why they don't return to wearing the leather Jacket for Dean? We see it in Reichenbach, when Dean kills Cole's father and also in the photo where J2M have dressed up as TFW, so why don't they bring it back?
Personally I see the leather jacket as symbolic of Dean trying to fulfill his dad’s expectations. The jacket is the macho image that John trained Dean to be. It’s too big for him and it’s heavy. I always felt it made him look like a young boy trying way too hard and not knowing how to want or decide for himself. I don’t want to see the jacket return, but that’s just me. I have no idea if the show people have these same thoughts about the jacket. Oh, except for that ep where Dean faced himself with demon eyes and had this diatribe about how everything of his was really his dad’s: his car, his jacket, his music, his thoughts...
I’d say Dean has made his car his own (and Sam’s). He’s ditched the jacket, expanded his music taste, and learned to think for himself. If John came back now, he’d find a very different Dean than in season 1–2.
