No but seriously imagine it
The year is 2089 and you open up your APUSH test booklet to see a dbq based off of political cartoons
The first image you see is miku binder thomas Jefferson
The second is the drawing of the earth to the “we’re killing the earth and that’s really fun” sound from tiktok
The third is an image of pregnant omega donald trump
You are asked to compare and contrast these images and explain how we got from one point to the other in such a short period of time
someone release me im so terrible at DBQ's for history and i feel genuinely stupid.. idk if its because of the pressure from the time limit but i NEED to get better at DBQ's considering theyre on tests and i want that A😔... if any1 sees this if u have any tips for sourcing statements/understanding documents Plsssss give
An Alternative DBQ Technique
Y’all-
What if instead of writing our DBQs in the standard format, we wrote historical person fanfiction using the documents given. Imagine being able to write John Locke X Thomas Jefferson. What a masterpiece. And the AP Readers would have to read it
But also, you could potentially get a few points if you did it right:
Contextualization, if you set the context for how your historical figure got to where he/she is
Thesis, if you somehow respond to the prompt in the first paragraph (ie “Thomas gazed into the eyes of Locke and said, “wow there certainly has been a lot of change over time since we declared independence from England. Now there’s more liberty, freedom, and happiness. I truly have followed your ideals””)
Sourcing documents if you provide the context around them. Because this is fanfiction, you could probably do this fairly easily, because you’d just have to describe their perspective as they wrote it.
Using documents and/or outside evidence would be difficult, particularly because they must address the prompt. Still, potentially being able to get 3 points when writing such wackiness would be pretty cool.
(I will probably legitimately do this over the summer when I both have the time and they publish the DBQ documents)
I wasn't trying to say Amab demiboys aren't demiboys-They are, but they will never have the same experiences as afab demiboys-Not in a social transition, not in a medical transition, and not in overall experience. Their experiences are closer to cis men than Afab demiboys are, that is all I was trying to point out. I admit my wording was crap, but it does make a huge difference in terms of experience, and transition goals-No one is required to medically transition, and I'm not saying they are, but trans people socially transition. That looks different for an Amab demiboy than it does for a Afab demiboy. Unless anon is a demiboy, a demigirl, or demigender, they likely wouldn't know of those differences. I'm not saying Amab demiboy = cis. I'm saying they are better able to relate to cis people than afab demiboys- That's it. There will be overlaps in our experiences, because we are all demiboys, but avoiding or ignoring our differences isn't doing anyone any good-Especially those who aren't in the demigender community.
I do agree with a lot of this, but I'm not sure likening the experience of amab demiboys to cis men is something that exactly works? Regardless of whether you're afab or amab, transition will look different for everyone. It might be a bit similar to others' but it's not extremely common. /nm
