They could be a little overwhelming at times. 

And right now. After having spent almost the entire day with them. You were just wanting a little peace and quiet wrapped up in Jason’s arms. 

You had managed to sneak away together. 

As he had pulled you by the hand, creeping out of the movie room while everyone was preoccupied. 

Laughing softly as his hand enclosed yours. 

Leading you through all the hallways. Not fussed with where you were headed. Just happy to have a moment alone with him. 

Though your bliss was cut short as you heard Dick’s voice echo through the halls. 

“Has anyone seen where Jaybird went?” 

With a quickened pace, Jason guided you quickly through the halls, before ducking into a closet. 

It was fairly small, merely storing a vast amount of linens all folded neatly along the shelves. 

As he pulls the door shut. Hands searching for you once more, as he pulls you closer into his arms. 

Ducking his head into the crook of your neck. Sighing as his shoulders relax. 

Your own lips widening as you feel his breath against your neck, faintly tickling your sensitive skin. 

Whispering softly, “Shh, they’ll hear us”

“Not if they know what’s good for them,” he mumbles. 

Biting your lip as you feel his lips brush against your neck. Soft, gentle. 

Taking his time, simply appreciating you. 

Soaking in your presence. 

Inhaling the scent of you. 

You had bewitched him body and soul. He was completely besotted by you. Craving you at every moment. 

After a long tiring day, he would always be soothed by just the simple wrapping of your arms around him and the gentle kiss upon his brow. 

And likewise, you longed to share your time with him. 

You loved the simple comfort of his hand intertwined with yours. In the early morning when he’d slip into bed beside you, as you’d settle your head to lay against his chest, his breathing steadying. 

As your hearts would begin to beat in sync. 

And now cramped in this little closet. 

You still wouldn’t be anywhere else. 

Just wanting a few moments alone. 

Outside you hear the faint padding of feet, rushed and hurried. Voices call over to each other. 

“They’re not in here”

“Not in the library either?”

“Has anyone checked Jay’s room”

“What about the garden?”

“In the rain?”

“You never know? Jay did look pretty annoyed at you Dick”

“What!? You take that back”

They continue to roam the halls in search of you both. 

“What about that closet?” 

You tense slightly as you see the shadows pass. 

Eyes darting to meet Jason’s as you wait with baited breath. As he presses his fingers to his lips. 

Getting away was the easy part. 

But staying hidden. 

That was the real trick.

In a house full of detectives. 

It would take a miracle to stay hidden. 

Your eyes dart to the door, as you see its handle tilt and twist. Leaning further into Jason’s arms. 

Just hoping your mind was playing tricks on you. 

Only to be proven wrong. 

As the door creaks open. You feel Jason tense his arms around you. 

Damian’s head peaks around the door. 

His brow raises as he sees you both. 

Lips pulled tight. 

Unamused at the frankly immature sight before him. As though you and Jason were a couple of teenagers. 

Bracing yourselves for your little bubble to be shattered. 

Waiting for Damian to make the announcement of his discovery of you. 

Instead you are both flooded by surprise as he simply calls out behind him. “They’re not here”

A kind smile forms on your face, grateful for his lie. 

“Thank you,” You murmur softly. 

He did always seem to have a soft spot for you. 

“Thanks demon spawn,” Jason whispered. With no bite behind the nickname. 

As you elbowed him slightly for the teasing name. 

Dami pointed his nose up slightly, muttering quietly “You owe me”

And just as quickly as he had discovered you. 

He had closed the door. 

Leaving you and Jason alone once more. 

Hidden in the back of the closet. 

Giggling softly from the events. 

“You know this means he’s going to be staying over with us, right?” 

“It’ll be worth it for a few more moments alone with you” 

He peppers your cheek with kisses. 

“I love you”

“I love you too, sweetheart” he murmurs as he catches your lips with his. 

Your eyes drifting shut as you hum softly in delight, feeling his hands trace delicately along you. Firm but never possessive. Just a reminder to himself that you were real. 

That you were really with him. 

You made his heart pound and settle all at once. 

You were his peace amongst the storm. 

His beacon of light. 

Anchoring. 

You were his home. 

As he was yours. 

…You just might have to share that home for a few nights of the year just to keep Damian’s mouth shut about this whole event.
