( 14:41 EST ) 04:30  MET = EVA White separated from spacecraft  ( 14:46 EST ) 04:55  EVA ends and Edward White’s leftside capsule hatch was closed... Note in this spacewalk photo that the time set at White’s forearm Omega Speedmaster chronograph was 17:55 with the chronograph running... The EVA ended at 15:05 EST. As soon as Omega became aware of the use of their Speedmaster chronograph 105.003 on a NASA spaceflight mission, they started an advertising campaign. Instead of using the excellent NASA photographs, Omega choose to use artworks depicting the spacewalk. However, these only showed a single Omega Speedmaster strapped over the forearm of Edward White’s Gemini G-4C spacesuit. The earliest “ Omega Gemini IV “ brochure in our collection is an early 1967 printed in Madrid Spain. It has 16 pages and measures 21 by 14,5 centimeters. The June 18, 1965 issue of LIFE magazine showcased 16 pages of fantastic color spacewalk photos and featured astronaut Edward White’s EVA on the cover. The story goes Omega only learned about the use of their Omega Speedmaster chronographs when they saw the LIFE magazine issue. Omega started an advertising campaign but their artworks & photos only mentioned a single Speedmaster. In fact, both Gemini IV astronauts, command pilot James McDivitt and pilot Edward White, each used a pair of NASA-issued Omega Speedmaster chronographs. June 3, 1965 Gemini IV astronaut Edward White became the first American to perform a spacewalk. Ed White wore a life support system at his chest and remained attached to the capsule with a 8 meter long umbilical assembly which consisted of a communication lead, a silicone rubber oxygen hose and a strong nylon tether. White used a Hand-Held Maneuvering Unit, nicknamed the “Zipgun” with a Zeiss photocamera attached to it, to produce controlled thrust bursts to move around the Gemini capsule.
