I believe it is essential for every business to protect a consumers privacy if the business wants to maintain a good relationship with the consumers. Companies receive profit from getting our personal information such as: name, location, gender, race, ethnicity, etc. They receive profit from selling our data to other businesses to improve their organizations needs and the consumers needs. The least these companies can do it protect our private information from malcious acts. That's only basic information. Imagine a company that stores bigger data like social security number, credit card/ bank information, address, etc. Equifax is large credit card bureau in the US that suffered a harsh data breech that affected 147.9 million consumers. Hackers were able to access personal inforamtion as well as driver licence information. As a business, it is importnant to be aware of the consequesnce that come with having big data from consumers. That way, no legal actions can be taken and the consumer will return to our business. As a consumer, one should be aware of who they share their data to. At the end of the day, data breeches are unpreventable. Even the most successful companies can be affected by a data breech. Before wanting to purchase or sign up for anything, make sure you are comfortable enough to share your information.
