「⚖️」 "Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, good morning. My name is Aurelius Vane-Tempest, and it is my pleasure to represent the city of Spirale as a prosecutor on this tragic case."

As the din in the gallery died down, the bespectacled blond lawyer read off his opening remarks to both judge and jury.

"On November 15th, 2024, the defendant in this matter, a Mr. Eiden Itadori, was found on the steps of SP*T besides the dead body of Mr. Ron Mann, well-known family man and beloved philanthropist to the community. Mr. Mann was determined to have died from blunt force trauma to the cranial region from a weaponized toy sold on Mr. Itadori's premises."

His voice was smooth and even, carrying no inflection besides the ones needed for dramatic effect. There was a storybook quality to the way he detailed the crime, the collection of the body, and the charges pressed against Eiden afterwards.

"Ladies and gentlemen, this is a case about a man who could not control his strength, who lost his cool at a crucial moment to commit involuntary manslaughter on the unlucky victim. Despite this, justice must be upheld."

"At the conclusion of the case, and after you have heard all the evidence, we are confident that you will return a verdict of guilty."

Thus finished, the angel prosecutor set down his papers and politely indicated to the judge that the defense could go next.

Today, the case of Eiden Itadori vs. The City of Spirale was formally in session.

The weapon that her recent victim had left behind was held in safekeeping. People may think that it was a trophy for her, but it was far from it. She didn't intend to keep it, but only to return it to its rightful owner. She held the very same axe that sliced right through her side. She still moved, the black goo that covered her injury still at work with the healing process. When she feels Yuri's presence before he's even spotted her, she uses the tendrils to coat the axe in its thick black liquid, and with ease, it seeps right into her. Concealed inside her own flesh.

Dar'khol's blood was thick on her, but there would be no telling if it was his or not. Yuri wouldn't know any better if she didn't say:

"I killed him."

She's sure she doesn't need to elaborate on what she means. She turns to face Yuri, green eyes observing the very man who said his eyes would be on her.

   ' scratch. ' the tone is more resigned than it is annoyed, a voice not often heard from fiyero, and he sighs with relief when his dog trots back over, though not after throwing another glance at the ... pipe? is that other dog carrying a golden pipe?

   ' sorry, ' he calls out as he approaches. ' my dog has sticky fingers. my fault, really. i ought to teach him not to steal from such a handsome man. ' and that's accompanied with a wink. when in doubt, they say. or, fiyero says. ' wouldn't want to ruin my chances. '
