“O-okay, th-th-that sounds good…” Still wringing his hands, Till glances furtively between them and Eiden. He’s not sure what to say now. The only friends Till had ever made, he'd made at school, where he was sure to see them every day. He’s not quite sure what happens next.
“I’ll… s-see you around…?” Till hesitates, searching for a phrase people use here. “I-I’ll… t-text you?”
‘I did it!’ Till internally cheers, hardly waiting for Eiden’s answer before privately celebrating. ‘He said we were friends! I made a friend!’
Till turns to the side and does a little fist-pump in jubilation, hopefully out of Eiden’s sight, his face flushed with pride and glee.
" Yeah! I'll be waiting! "
It takes a lot for him not to snort a little at the celebratory gesture. It's endearing though, if you ask him. He gets up, patting up his jeans a little before peeking Til at eye level for a thumbs up.
" And I mean that 'waiting' part ok? You better not forget! "
"Yeah yeah I know I knooooow but this time I was getting compensation for it! It was a job!" Technically. Though how much she was actually getting paid was debatable given who the individual was doing all of it in the first place...
"Oh yeah that home was clean gone. I'm sure someone rebuilt it because this city is well a weird one. But for that little bit of time there was zilch on that plot. I really hope someone took a picture..."
As if that also wasn't her job to ensure such was done on her job...
" Job??? Who ordered you to do that?! "
" Can't you just become a cashier instead of ...order-demolisher or something?! "

"I think we're splitting hairs somewhat over the definition of magic... It's like trying to define art. It is quite interesting that having magical capacity doesn't necessarily grant one the ability to use it, though. Have you ever tried? Perhaps you could not perform the spells used on your home world, but you might be able to use others!"
" I mean. I'm not an expert but ..."
He had read tons of books in Klein throughout his time in there.
" The essence heals me automatically but it's way slower than magic - that's a difference between potential death and survival. "
" And obviously I've tried! In Klein, I mean, from day one! I don't think just swapping a type will help... I've barely just figured out essence as it is."
"I have heard that angels could if they wanted," he says thoughtfully. "Both my parents were angels."
Klaus would rather Eiden didn't know some things about what was going on. Especially with sebastian, but he also deserves to know!
"Sebastian has been targeting those close to Aurelius. We just worry that being in the same area wouldn't be safe. I....don't think Sebastian would actually harm a child, but..."
" Huh. That's interesting I guess... "
Eiden scratches his chin, kind of curious about details but pushes them aside quickly before that thought forms too strong. He's more concerned over the other matter that goes by the name Sebastian.
" That guy's got frie-- "
Eiden coughs.
" Targeting them? What's happened...? "
" No, it's fine to be cautious. I mean, can't say he's got a great personality really... I don't think one has to hurt anyone physically to cause damage either. "

Yeesh. Not that she was one to talk, given that subtlety and quiet were hardly ever words in her vocabulary, but a landing like that definitely blew any cover they might've had...
"OH! You okay?!"
There wasn't a lot of time to worry about it either way. While her own wet splat wasn't the most graceful landing either, not having any bones to break did have it's advantages during rushed escapes like this! Already shifted back upright, Frye ignored the light sting of scraped limbs as she raced to gather her newfound keepsakes back up, adrenaline pulsing with the ink through her veins.
There's a shout somewhere above them, beams of light spilling out from flashlights pointed through the window they'd just leapt from. Shoving everything she can carry under one elbow, Frye's bolted over to Eiden's side again in an instant, straining to tug him upright by the forearm with her free hand.
"We're outta time, let's go! You can still run, right?"
She still had tricks up her sleeve if he couldn't, but it'd be a lot easier for them both if he could!
" I don't think anything broke but... "
" My precious cheeks might be a little bruised. "
He's NOT about to check on that here though but with no cracks he can only assume that might be the worst case scenario. Besides that though it was just some scratches, dirt and a deeply injured ego.
Plus it hurts like balls. Almost made him forget they might have people after them. When Fry comes to help him, Eiden's as co-operative as they get, dragging himself up with that assistance.
" I'll do my best", he answers, slightly defeated but ready to go anyway.
"...you can use magic?" Octavo blinks at him, pizza box still in hand. "I thought you were a regular human. Why didn't you ever mention you came from someplace with magic?"
From what Eiden is saying, it sounds like magic was as mundane a skill as weaving or pottery, so perhaps he didn't find it worth bringing up?
" Nope", Eiden responds, truthfully, " I can use essence. There's a difference. "
" Essence is the magical energy sorta kinda thing you need to use for magic, I just happen to have loads of it. I can technically only transfer it and use it to look for certain sorta things, it keeps me sort of healthy, it heals me ... but it's still different from magic. "
Basically it has it's properties but he can only wield essence around or transfer it.
" Anyway, I got summoned there. So I don't really come from there... or uh, I do but I grew up in a normal world and then just got summoned. By accident. "
" Mhm. . . "
Perhaps it had something to do with the angle then. Otherwise, laying down onto the ground did not sound all that pleasant. Comparatively, the surface was covered in soft looking green grass instead of rubbish and filth. Maybe he could give this a try.
And so he does. Zodyl sits onto the ground before awkwardly flopping back into the grass. Now his eyes were squinting to keep the sun rays out of his face.
What did Eiden do--?
He opened his hands out, and he said something. Words were important, so Zodyl decides to copy everything verbatum.
Zodyl opens his eyes properly to look up towards the sky, and spreads his arms out.
In the flattest tone possible, he says:
" Voilà. "
" . . . I guess this is. Okay. "
" Just okay?! " Eiden answers, seeming just a little bit offended in his tone, " this is like... peak ...youth experiences! "
That might be exaggeration even for himself. This was supposed to be more about the sky anyway. That said the game isn't over yet! The guy did lay down there so he's not doing something totally unnecessary after all ... probably.
Regardless - he's got... sort of a secret weapon.
Or not really but.
" Anyway from here you can look at the cloud shapes and then when you see some of them resembling something then you go... "
Eiden gasps mid sentence and continues with great energy:
" WOW that totally looks like a dick?! "
And loosens up again. No, there's no phallic clouds that Eiden has noticed up there.
" Anyway, kinda like that? "
Eiden didn't know the kind of monster that Sebastian was? Just want guise was Sebastian playing in a new world like this?
"My mother left home briefly to have a talk with Sebastian, and he killed her. With his own hands. This is the kind of king," he practically spits that word out with hate, "is."
So he did. Eiden doesn't feel any relief finding it out. There's a part of him that's not particularly surprised but there's no joy he can conjure from that kind of thing.
" But! "
Unsure what else to do he finds his hands, balled into first. No anger behind the gesture, more just general upset. Should he even be upset? He can't find himself doubing this guy. It's not like he hasn't been given warning about the guy.
" Why would he do something like that though!!! "
" That's what I want to know... "
"Mmmm," Sun nods, seemingly understanding where Eiden is coming from when talking about feelings and hurting them if one were too honest.
Not for himself. Sun was told to never lie. Though when he didn't lie, oftentimes, he got in trouble.
"I can't really lie," he says truthfully. "Bentley doesn't like liars so I never lied. But...telling the truth, I usually got in trouble for them, too."
He's somewhat sure he's heard that name before. Sun has mentioned him.
" Don't know what's up with that guy but I don't think I've ever heard you speak of him nicely - not that you should. I don't think I'd like him either."
There's a reason for that, Eiden assumes - knows, really.
" I mean you don't have to listen to a guy like that, you can just say and not say what you like. I mean, he probably isn't here anyway, is he? So why would you have to listen to him? "

"Of course not! Or well I guess there was one guy in it. But he didn't seem too phased by the fact I was doing it in the first place."
Aurelius's confidence in the whole matter did make it seem like the little job was only just to "prove a point". Respectable to a certain extent but really the doll couldn't care less as long as she was having a good time with her work.
"Reeeeelax! I'm pretty sure he made it out when the whole big boom happened in the first place. Probably too tenacious to die in a stupid way like that."
" Haven't we spoken about how you shouldn't just blow things up!! "
Eiden lets out a drained sigh as he sinks back onto his seat. Sure they didn't die here out anyway but that's now reason explode stuff around!!!
" You being 'pretty sure' doesn't sound very reassuring. Besides even if they live exploses cause other stuff too - the impact, y'know! What about property damage!!"
"I don't care for it either, but food is practically unlimited around here. I doubt it'd be any real harm if you threw it away." Octavo opens one of the boxes to examine the pizza.
"It's honestly been a relief, not being hungry all the time. My magic is rather draining and proper meals were not always easy to come by. Are the green bits the peas? I've never had them." He picks one off and sniffs it.
" Uh, I mean, it's a personal thing, just..."
" Can't break a habit. We didn't have great budget where I lived so they were pretty strict about it. "
Stand in the corner all night if you wasted any food was what they told you to do. Eiden did often try to escape the punishment so a teacher would stand there to make sure he didn't.
"Yeah? Back in Klein there were specific food that were rich with the energy used for magic that you could use to replenish it but otherwise food doesn't do much. "
No green peas huh? Klein overlapped a lot with "Earth Cuisine" so to speak, old familiar stuff sometimes with different names and just brand new stuff combined into all sorts of delicacies (and mildly dubious stuff).
" And yeah, huh? That's interesting. That's like super ordinary stuff where I come from. "
