Summer 2026 is looking like an arcade game renaissance
June 18th - Parking Garage Rally Circuit DX on Switch (Sega-style time trial rally racer but in parking garages)
June 22nd - Dark Scrolls (Quirky Gauntlet-inspired side-scrolling shooter w/roguelite progression)
June 25th - Star Fox (The N64 classic rail shooter as it was meant to be seen, First series entry in 10 years)
July 2nd - Rhythm Heaven Groove (Score attack rhythm minigames, First series entry in 10 years)
July 15th - Denshattack! (High-speed train stunt racer)
I’ve prayed for times like this. My bread & butter right here. Lower-cost fun games that don’t sacrifice presentation or energy w/ tons of replay value. Arcade games will probably always be my favorite type of video game. Pushing skill, mastery and feedback to the front with over-the-top presentation.
I like to think I’m not the only gamer out there who would prefer these types of colorful, fun experiences over developers being sent to the crunch time mines for 7-10 years working on one realistic Unreal Engine 5 third or first person narrative-heavy shooting game.
Obviously, that sort of cycle is not sustainable. I hope we all can just have a good time! That’s what it’s about!
