Another day, another movie list!
Genre/Sub-Genre: LGBTQ+
Representation matters. As someone is who is apart of this community, there is no better feeling than seeing people like me on screen and portrayed in films. Never be ashamed of who you are and remember, you are not alone. This one is for my fellow LBGTQ+ members and for anyone else who wants some great films to watch! So, without further ado, here are my top 10 LGBTQ+ films of the past decade (and no, I am NOT including CMBYN):
1. Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019)
2. Heartstone (2016)
3. Knife + Heart (2018)
4. Moonlight (2016)
5. A Fantastic Woman (2017)
6. The Handmaiden (2016)
7. We the Animals (2018)
8. Carol (2015)
9. I Killed My Mother (2009)
10. The Way He Looks (2014)
Hoje Eu Quero Voltar Sozinho / The Way He Looks (2014)
Director: Daniel Ribeiro
Stars: Ghilherme Lobo, Fabio Audi, Tess Amorim...
Leonardo is a blind teenager searching for independence. His everyday life, the relationship with his best friend, Giovana, and the way he sees the world change completely with the arrival of Gabriel.
Beautiful and compassionate movie that easily makes its way into my favourites. I really love movies with a humanitarian touch to it, especially if they have a happy ending like this one. The romance between the characters is so genuine and cute, and the fact that one of the characters is blind makes the relationship more spiritual and less sexual, which is really refreshing and nice. I also liked the girl because she stays a true friend even though she got hurt at one point. The movie is actually made from its 2010 short film predecessor and is the first full-length feature film by the director.
Rating: 5/5
rewatching The Way He Looks and i just really love the scene when gabriel enters and camera focuses on leo's ear in the foreground and then to gabriel in the background
like, it's the equivalent to when romcoms zoom in to the eyes
