quick disclaimer, because SOME men love to act like theyāve never heard a woman tell a joke, but this post is 100% just lighthearted silliness! i love programming in java, and as a beginner itās one of my favorite languages ive learned so far!
that being said⦠why is java the most frustrating thing in the world??? please nobody answer my question genuinely because i promise i know why itās made the way it is i promise i promise⦠like yes i understand the basics of encapsulation and the whole āblack boxā idea and making programming thatās easy to maintain bla bla bla thats all greatā¦
but what takes me five lines in python takes 30 in java. itās just objectively more complicated. the complexity doesnāt scare me, i know the more i learn the more iāll understand and the less iāll be frustrated by it, butā¦. WHYš«©
understanding the idea of high level programming does NOT make it any less frustrating š i get that complex higher-level programming languages are obviously frustrating to learn at first because it seems so ridiculous to make everything overly complicated for such simple programs you start out with (like ācalculate price by income taxā and āround this numberā), but itās still just soooo funny having to take the most basic ass programs seriously for homework. like yes bbg, calculating and displaying taxable income DOES require six line comments explaining what tax rates and dependents are, youāre SO right, future programmers WOULDNāT know basic financial and arithmetic vocabularyš
forcing myself to add explanatory comments on the most basic code is actually so fun though
like. yes, this is integer a, and integer a cannot be divided by zero, please donāt try to divide anything by zeroš«¶
itās lot like gentle parenting, except weāre gentle parenting future developers that read and maintain the code
