Hi! I have a question about a specific scenario. There have been some instances, where, when I'm sitting at the table and ask someone to pass me, for example, the salt, their immediate answer is "no". The thing is, I know EXACTLY that this "no" is meant sarcastically, but my brain still kind of goes into panic mode and I just never know how to react so I just sit there quietly and they laugh at my reaction. Do you maybe have any advice on how to react appropriately? (#daisyasks please) Thank you
I think this depends a lot on the people you’re interacting with. In my family, for example, an appropriate response might be to roll your eyes and say “Just pass the damn salt,” but I don’t know how well that would go over for you because it’s definitely a bit rude and includes a mild swear.
I’d recommend watching how other people at the table react when this happens to them and using some of their responses as scripts for when this happens to you. If you’re the only one who gets told no when you ask people to pass stuff, start saying no to other people when they ask you to pass stuff so that you can observe their reactions.
Followers, what works for you?
