What the fandom thinks Taiyang said about Yang’s semblance: Your semblance is nothing but a temper tantrum. You’re a bad fighter and you shouldn’t use it anymore. Here is more inaccurate advice about your clearly perfect fighting style. Your semblance sucks, and so does your aura, and so does your soul, and so does your mother.
What Taiyang actually said about Yang’s semblance: “You were predictable. And... stubborn. And... maybe a little boneheaded. Do you realize that you used your Semblance to win every fight after the qualifiers? [...] Because not everyone else's is basically a temper tantrum. I'm serious! Once you take damage, you can dish it back twice as hard, but that doesn't make you invincible! It's great when you're in a bind, but what happens if you miss? What happens if they're stronger? What then? Now you're just weak and tired! You've always been one to burn brighter than everyone else, whether it was with your smile, or, well, I remember your first haircut. But you gotta keep your emotions in check. Keep a level head, and think before you act. Your Semblance is a great fallback, but you can't let yourself rely on it. It won't always save you.”
Claiming he insulted her semblance is only possible if you leave out most of what he actually said. Also let’s not forget that the lessons he taught her in Volume 4 are clearly visible in her fighting style from Volume 5 onward, and that she only defeated Adam because she tried to be smarter than him instead of just overpowering him. Adam relied too much on his semblance and his sword, that’s why he was useless without it, and Yang used that against him. She only won because she learned from Volume 3 and from Taiyang and didn’t just blindly use her semblance against him as he did, but tried to use it in a smarter way.
Hey so I realize I was completely joking about daddy kink yesterday and then wrote something today. People want to joke i get it. I started it. But it's getting out of hand, at least for me personally.
